I'm a pretty open-minded guy musicwise (though it doesn't really show on my chart). I'll enjoy a well done album from any genre really.
Metal is the only genre I don't understand yet.

As for Stevie, 2 great albums doesn't make him a favourite. I wasn't really impressed with "Talking Book" either.

I believe Sonic Youth are the better band.
To be honest, I didn't even like "Daydream Nation" on first listen ! "EVOL" now on my chart is a beautiful album. You've mentioned "Sister" and "Dirty", but many of their other albums are overlooked, and all have great tracks on them.
