Apart from quibbling over ranking (Liz Phair at #7 🫵 ), this is a decent list. Happy to see Live Through This so high up there, and happy that Songs From the Big Chair made the list at all.

About the list though, I do like it, although it feels really random the way a lot of Spin's lists do these days. Only Spin would put Exile in Guyville in the top 10 of a list like this. And any other site would have had Turn on the Bright Lights in the top 50, minimum. It's cool though. I am really surprised they only put OK Computer at #6, I believe it was #1 on the 20th anniversary list they did 10 years ago. And my boy Prince in the top 3, hell yeah, too bad his two best albums (1999 and Purple Rain) weren't eligible. Also happy to see P4K's presence in the top 100 is limited. We should poll our own list with this theme.

I like the list, though. Fairly diverse (as these lists go anyway) and there's not much in the top 50 that I really dislike.

This is how blog lists work, they would sacrifice far more traffic if they didn't. The majority of internet browsers have a competent enough of an internet or computer to manage this; though some tablets, lower end machines may be left out yeah but they don't in the big picture lose anything from that. Basically, in the scheme of things you are the minority when it comes to traffic.

Website loads fine for me.

as a courtesy to those of us without a super-duper internet connection, i really wish that lists like that could offer an alternate text-only format without a graphic & embedded audio for every album :-/

oh well, i suppose technology waits for no one...

i agree with those who feel Exile In Guyville deserves the recognition. but 7 spots above loveless? insane! 😉

I mean, he's not at all better than Hendrix, but remember that he is legitimately really really good (see: First To Last's Dear Diary and the Repo! The Genetic Opera soundtrack).

I just miss when Spin was actually a magazine, they got bought up and are online only now. I had subscribed for like 3 years, they're how I found everyone from The National to Yeasayer to A Day To Remember (as well as Matt and Kim, Fucked Up, She Wants Revenge, Trampled By Turtles, Awolnation, She Wants Revenge, Cage The Elephant, New Politics, Deerhunter, Toro Y Moi, Best Coast, MGMT, Deer Tick, Iceage, Kurt Vile, Liturgy, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Wild Flag, Yuck, Future Islands, Phantogram, Art Brut, Battles, Man Man, Meat Puppets, Frank Turner, Givers, Bright Eyes, Charles Bradley, Cut Copy, Drive-By-Truckers, Wye Oak, !!!, J Mascis, Primus, and a lot of downloads I've lost/deleted cuz they weren't so good).

Say what you want, but they were a great avenue to get discovered, spread music, etc.

This list is many things, but I think bold is a fair word. To describe this list. Yeah, they're a lot of the albums you would expect, but the order is actually really cool.

Seems to be a pretty alright list, which predictably has a few pleasant surprises (I was excited to see Mezcal Head) and a few headscratchers - no matter who's making the list, it's weird to see Spiderland behind Sublime, Benji, and My Chemical Romance. The page loads so slowly that it will be another hour and a half before I get to the end, but rumor has it that Nevermind is at the top, which is about as uncontroversial as you can get. I've always found lists like this to be helpful when you're first getting into music but really boring after you've listened to quite a lot, although this one does seem to have some hidden gems.

Seeing that Liz Phair album in the top 10 is a breath of fresh air, haven't looked at the full list yet, but considering there's a few off my overall chart in the top 10 I'm probably expecting it to be reasonably decent.
