But no I guess when it comes to cultural omnivore I def consume a lot of music obv, mainly cuz it's something that's great to experience when doing other things as well, I read a lot, more so news, anaylsis's these days than actual novels/books. I used to consume a lot of movies but recently I actually really have enjoyed more so not watching, say, multiple movies in a day, as I actually find I enjoy them a lot more if Im not trying to do it all. Kind of the opposite of TV/webseries as I can binge on them all day. Video Games not so much anymore. Though I binge on Tumblr and travel videos all day every day.

I'm not a big cultural omnivore as not all forms of what is considered culture interests me. My experiences have typically proven to almost always have a high focus on interests.

However, things I have a huge knowledge base in (compared to my total amount of knowledge) include music and video games. I have very little interest in literature and most written work. I also don't watch many TV shows and films. However, I have a decent amount of knowledge in regards to anime.

EDIT: I also like comedy quite a bit.

I take pride in being well informed on whats new, though I tend to avoid the stuff that's really popular. That is to say I consume all the new stuff that falls into my personal taste preference.

Moderately consumed:
literature
podcasts
news/current events

Admittedly, most of the podcasts i listen to have to do with music or film. Not sure where that should fall. I love reading and typically have a book that I'm in the middle of. However, its not often the "hot new book" but rather a classic or an older book from an author i know i like. So, culturally speaking, i dont know if i can include literature.

Infrequently consumed:
episodic television
blogs

other than a few comedies that i keep on my DVR, i dont watch much.

Not even on my radar

video games

I haven't played video games since college, and even growing up I didn't play a lot. A friend of mine often redicules me for not having a "normal childhood".

BTW ZDWyatt, thanks for giving me the terms "episodic" and "cinematic" when referring to TV. I'm always trying to describe the difference but i think that is as perfectly concise as you can get.

When I was younger, this list would have been almost reversed, with the exception that I've always obsessed about music.

I with HigherThanTheSun and Puncture Repair here. When music comes up in conversation it is never about artists you would find on most user charts unless they are ones like The Beatles and Queen. I don't know a single person who would find hidden songs and albums like lots of people on BEA. Outside I am known as a massive Clash fan or the biggest Kanye West fan (two different people I know) and other music which comes up in conversation. Here I am known for liking a huge amount of music and being extremely informative. My recs get heard and I see my influence pop up every so often. While agreeing with Dingerbell, things like this do boast the ego a bit. Being amongst others who share an interest is a pretty cool thing and even more so when you can help share with others.

I wish I would read more, see more tv/films, know more about art classical music stuff like this. It bothers me that I know so little about these things but it's never bothered me enough to make me experience them just for the sake of having done it. I'm still only going to be doing things I actually enjoy I think it's pretty sad when you get to the point of listening/watching/doing just so you have something to talk about when the subject comes up and you can seem cultured or whatever

Half the stuff I listen to I know pretty much for certain I'll never have a conversation about but that's not the motivation for listening anyway so. I really like music so I listen to it a lot, not as much as a lot of people here but compared to most people I know irl. I can hold my own in most convos about music which is nice but it's very much secondary to the actual enjoyment of listening in the first place

It's nice to have those friends around, and it's also nice to be 'that guy' that has a specialization (s'why we have that 'Genre Extravaganza' poster on the Music Boards).

Conversation almost always dies when I tell people I listen to music, because everyone loves music and listens to it, and sometimes it comes off like I don't really do anything. It's not that I see it as a competition, it's just nice to be knowledgeable about something and then share that knowledge to those that want to hear it.

Truth is, I don't know very much about anything.

Music is what I fancy myself as an avid consumer of, but having not even heard 1,000 albums yet, I feel like I'm still just dipping my toe in the water compared to everyone else. I don't read, I don't know why, I really wish I did, I just find it difficult. I watch film and TV now and then, but I quickly shrivel in any conversation about movies when around bigger movie-buffs than me. I struggle to finish most video games, I get bored of the mechanics much quicker than it seems most people do. Mostly I wish I knew more about art and design, since it's my field of study, but I hardly know enough to call myself a designer.

Gets pretty sad when I think about it actually. When I tell people I'm really into music the response is almost always "So am I, have you heard X?" and then I usually say no, and feel like all the hours I've poured into music listening has been for nothing. I guess I spend more of my free time creating things than experiencing things.

I'm always trying to fill gaps in my understanding, whether it's related to culture or not, but I don't have time to be a regular consumer of more than one or two forms of media at a time. Music and (classic) literature are my main focus right now, but I've gone through phases of heavy consumption of films, video games, and TV. The list of things I haven't consumed in large quantities is too long to put here, unfortunately.
