78 is pretty solid top to bottom but personally only Devo and "Human Fly" stand out pointedly. 08 on the other hand has a lot of favorites, including the wonderful and underrated albums like Alopecia and London Zoo and strong singles all the way through. Great turnaround Jherry, 08 gets the nod here but still a strong match all the way through.

2008 gets an easy vote from me here. I'm not a fan of Pere Ubu in general, and all the singles don't appeal to me at all... it does have Fela Kuti, and Shuffering & Shmiling is some of his best work, but it's just gotta be 2008 here.

I have to give Jherry props for coming at me hard with 2 of my favorite albums ever in Portishead's Third and Spiritualized's A&E. That's a serious team right there, and the other 3 albums are quite good too. Just, not as good as 1978's combination of landmark albums and unforgettable singles.

1978 is the picture of consistency. But that rod Stewart selection is the equivalent of a pitcher giving up a solo home run in the 9th after not giving up more than a couple harmless singles the whole game. Damn.

In other words nothing in '78 is more than very very good and nothing less than jolly good. Damn consistent quality.

But '08 has a selection of albums I've heard only 3 of, and of those none I like too much. And that fatal error/nuisance of no names telling what fucking singles are there really irks me. So what I'm trying to say is...

Easy vote to to the 2nd greatest year of the mid to late seventies. 😉
