It's right in the lyrics. "September's coming soon." By definition, the events take place in the summer. It does resonate for me, though more in a melancholy way about summer nearly being over.

Yeah I agree, I can sort of see why someone would associate Nightswimming with summer, but it just doesn't resonate with me that way.

There isn't anything remotely summery about 'Nightswimming', even though it's a song I love. Easy vote to 'Walking on Sunshine' here though, even if I too was a little disappointed it wasn't Katrina & The Waves.
