'Sorry for being a bit uneducated about this, but does Paisley underground have a particularly different style to most other jangle pop, or are they named separately due to when and where these bands were based?

Like, I am listening to loads of The Go-Betweens lately, which can be considered jangle pop, but are they similar to any of the "Paisley" bands.'

Yes I think the Paisley movement has a different sound to most other jangle pop, perhaps a little more psychedelic than pop but it is definitely jangle pop if that makes any sense. The Paisley Underground was just a regional US thing from early to mid 80's but most of the bands will definitely fall into the jangle pop banner.

Native Sons by The Long Ryders

Around the same time over here in the UK many bands were doing a similar thing with Creation Records at the forefront with bands like Jasmine Minks, The Loft, Revolting Paint Dream and Biff Bang Pow releasing great singles before the whole C86 scene took the jangle to a new level. And as you and a few others have noted Austrailia and New Zealand were also doing a similar thing with The Go-Betweens, Chills / Bats.

It's basically all about apeing that Byrds Rickenbacker sound.

Glad you like it! It's very dreamy and I love how much Kendra Smith sounds like the prototype to Hope Sandoval.

This is my favorite of the bunch, but I love the whole scene pretty much. That Opal album rules, Cuba! 😁
