My most recent addition is Emergency & I, which jumped to number 1 after I first heard it back in April or so. Other than that my top 20 has contained the same albums for quite some time, although the order often changes. Usually when I realize I really love a new album it tops out in the low thirties or thereabouts.

My top 20 has stayed the same. Actually, my overall chart has changed very little. My bottom 20 could probably rotate every few months, but I really can't be bothered.

Aside from the above, Africa Brasil and Sing For Very Important People (my current number 1) I think my Top 20's been pretty constant for the last couple of years.

Passage by Carpenters

I found it in a record store for 50 cents. I didn't expect much from it, but I instantly loved it. While there were songs I loved and was familiar with, there other songs I hadn't heard before--and were even better. Her version of "Don't cry for me Argentina" at the end of side one is the best I've ever heard (sorry, Madonna). Karen's voice is just amazing, the top of my list of best vocalists.

Good Stuff by The B-52's

Not the best known B-52's album, but it's my favorite. Musically it's the most developed of their albums. Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson are counterparts, balanced against each other on opposite ends of a long lever, or an old married couple that you don't see how they could possibly work, and then you get to know them, and then you start to see that they really do fit. And if "Revolution Earth" had been the anthem of the 90's generation, it would have gotten a better name than X.

I just remembered that I did move Lift Your Skinny Fists up from 12 to 10 recently, those minor changes happen quite a bit. I don't think my top 9 have changed since last year, but I shuffle Lonerism, Illinois, Ziggy Stardust, LYSFLATH, and To Pimp a Butterfly (ever since it's release) around in the 10-14 range all the time. Of those 5 albums, To Pimp is the only one that hasn't occupied the #10 slot, but I'm sure it will eventually.

Also, my love for The Violent Femmes' debut has been steadily climbing for the last year or so. So the next time I redo my chart, I'll likely move it into the lower ranks of my top 20. I'm thinking Double Nickles on The Dime will probably be the one that drops out of the top 20 once I do that.

I know I moved Ys up into my top twenty a few months ago. I also put To Pimp a Butterfly in about a month after it's release. Most of my top twenty has been pretty constant for a while though. My top ten in particular rarely changes.

my top 20 is pretty much reserved for stuff that has been a huge part of my DNA for a significant amount of time. I guess Heart of the Congos and Big Star's 3rd are the two records to have most recently taken that leap to top 20 status.
