I was using a rather strict definition of metal, and that meant no hard rock(Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queens of the Stone Age), no heavy prog(The Mars Volta, Rush, Porcupine Tree) and no grunge(Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains). I decided to allow Van Halen and Guns N' Roses places on the list due to their prevalence in a variety of metal blogs I've seen and my own personal standards of what does and does not constitute metal. If that rubs you the wrong way then fuck on outta here, ya dope. 😜
It's just a perfect death/progressive metal album, nothing else to really say.

I mean it's a good album but :|

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6_axWcG9BA&feature=related

It's amazing

PENNWNED

But seriously, I do really love the second half of that album but everything before "Ants of the Sky" is kind of generic metalcore to my ears and the parts where the singer tries to sound like Mike Patton are really grating. I could definitely agree with it being in the top 10 of metal albums released in the last 10 years, though.

47. Edge of Sanity-Crimson
48. Alive in Athens-Iced Earth
49. Another Lesson in Violence-Exodus
50. The Mantle-Agalloch

Both lists are problematic but I appreciate that this one has a little more variety, with contemporary classics, old warhorses and overlooked gems all getting roughly equal spotlight.

IMO this is a good list 😁

I thought you didn't like Dream Theater, you total dork!

Still, you've got Dopethrone on your list and that automatically makes it 200 trillion times better than Rolling Stone's, even if you do think the White Stripes are metal.
