Gonna make a hip-hop chart at some point in the next week, and that one's gonna be Top 20, if not higher. Been absolutely rinsing it lately.

It's definitely more of a concise statement than All Eyez or MATW, and is more consisted, it still strikes me as front-loaded and weirdly paced (Just like Daddy right after Life of an Outlaw feels awkward as fuck to my ears). I don't know. I'm the problem. Well either me or Suge who I'm given to understand fucked with the thing quite a bit, though I'm not sure how much of a difference that really made. Regardless it's great, but I still can't get over the "collection of songs/not album" vibe.

Mad excited for your hip-hop chart in any case
I agree with the above statements fully. I absolutely love Pac. He's such a beast, he's so emotional and his flow is literally the coolest fucking flow ever! I adore so much of his stuff. But I've yet to find a complete album to latch on to as his defining ALBUM. All Eyez On Me has been a big part of my listening routine lately. Its killer. But as an album it's not up to the cohesive classics some of his peers dropped. But as fâ as individual tracks, damn he's mind blowing. I still think "Hail Mary" is one of the greatest tracks ever, for examp.

In my experience Tupac appeals much more to black people than to white people, which would at least partly explain the lack of talk about him here. He's fucking amazing though.

From what I've gathered, a lot seem to think this is the case, but I mean, I think he's great personally.

So what's the deal with 2Pac?

I listened to some of his stuff after his presence on To Pimp A Butterfly, and it seems pretty solid, but he's so rarely discussed on this forum, especially compared to his contemporaries like Nas, Biggie, even Mobb Deep.

He seems to be painted as such an influential figure by some Hip Hop artists and has a huge following, yet none of his albums have been able to breach an 80 here or a 4/5 on RYM.

Is the consensus that he's an overrated artist that's just been popularized by his early death? I wasn't really old enough to know his story when he was alive, so genuinely curious.

I have the the Joey Bada$$ on vinyl. Been listening to it all week. I haven't really listened to new music in a while so I went out on a limb and listened to the guy at the record store. Im enjoying it, probably about 8-10 really solid tracks.

I like the Weekend (partucularly Echoes of Silence but his other two tapes are good too, haven't heard Kiss Land). I haven't heard PartyNextDoor but I do love Frank Ocean (Channel Orange is on my chart and I'm really looking forward to what he does next), How to Dress Well (Love Remains is also on my chart I'm pretty sure) and FKA twigs if you consider her to be R&B. I'm sure there are more whom I'm forgetting.

Bobby Shmurda's big hit is actually one of my favorite rap songs of the year. I also love Waka Flocka Flame, Childish Gambino, and some A$AP (Rocky, Ferg, some other guy) stuff (if any of them are considered mainstream). There's some stuff I hear that I enjoy, but a lot of it does fall into the boring money and hoes shit that most unfamiliar people think that all hip hop is. But I can dig a tune like that sometimes.

Do you like Mac Miller or Rick Ross?
