It's funny to me that Prisoner of Azkaban ranked so highly and there's no other HP books on the list. It really is the best one. Anyways great list. I'm surprised Breakfast of Champions is highest for Vonnegut, I thought it was one of his weakest.

Disappointed in there being no "Tom Jones" or "The Woman in the Dunes", but otherwise I think I'm okay with this.

I really wanted to participate in this but I couldn't come up with 100 and that bothered me. Not much of a reader, I really have to be in the mood for it, which hasn't happened in a couple years. With that said I think you guys did pretty good. A lot of great stuff on here; it looks like at least half of the 70 or so I had written down made the list. And strangely enough even though movies and music are nore my forte and it usually doesn't work out this way for them, I have actually heard of almost every book here. I'm kinda glad I didn't have to go "WTF is this" and Google a dozen book titles. Seems like the stuff that's been on my radar should be my next go to books when I finally decide to read again.

Why am I not at all surprised to see Lolita top a BEA list?

Anyways great job, personally no doubt a bit dissapointed not to see Women in Love or Middlesex, but hey you can't have everything in this life. Were there any novels that were multiple users #1's?

And with that the only Beckett goes off the list and instead we have Diana Wynne Jones who I haven't read to be honest but a shame not to have Beckett.

Also very happy that stuff like A Country Doctor's Notebook, The Floating Opera, The Name of The Rose, Tristram Shandy, The Fall, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler made the cut, but when "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" beats all of them you know you're gonna go to sleep tonight with an unknown nagging feeling.

And Kerouac is like one of your typical YouTube commenters who was smog enough to think he can write. I pity the world people live in where liking On The Road is a thing. It's like having Corona light for your first beer and sticking with it.

yeah I was surprised you were the only one to list it. I haven't read it but I am well aware of its status

Bonus stuff:

The most represented author across the entire list was William Faulkner with a total of 8 novels mentioned. Coming in second we had Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Haruki Murakami with 6 each (though I think most of the latter came from me 🤣 )

1984 and Animal Farm were almost exactly tied

The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer was the only book that appeared on at least 5 lists that still didn't manage to crack the top 100

On the Road showed up the most, appearing on a total of 11 different lists

And this is still my favorite so I'll just mention it one more time but Life, The Universe, and Everything got exactly 42 points and that makes me happier than it probably should

anything else anyone wanna know?

(might do a gender breakdown of the whole thing as well as a decade/century one if I find the time)
