I feel similarly towards it. Honestly, I don't watch R rated movies much in general unless they're mild or on TV. It either annoys me or distracts me unnecessarily from the plot.

This is super tough cuz I'm not too smart on foreign films. I'll do a similar post to Normans last one. But what I also have done is go on Netflix and search for every single one of these. I think a total of 5 I've not seen are streaming there. One of which was Oldboy which I just saw (and I respect all the technical aspects of it, but that twisted sadomasichistic shit just pisses me off and I don't like on principle. So while every aspect of the film was great it left me less than happy. Very weird reaction I had to it). And I also went to the library and loaded up on movies to watch. Thanks to this tournament already I've been finally introduced to Tarkovsky.

Anyway, I'm excited about this but I have a ridiculous amount of watching to do. Better get busy.

1f: Let the Right One In vs. 8 ½ (it's basically a tie. But 8 1/2 always seemed to be a work that's absolute genius alluded me. I still love it, but have more emotional reaction to Let The Right One In.)

1g: In the Mood For Love vs. Oldboy (based off the love heaped on Oldboy I thought this would be tough, but being a total romantic and loving romantic films more than any other in general, and also considering In The Mood For Love is flawless and doesn't make me kind of sickened by humanity, I voted for it.)

1h: Spirited Away vs. City of God (but goddamn! Why is this so tough!?!)

1i: Children of Paradise vs. Cinema Paradiso (CoP is a classic, so I look forward to seeing it before I vote. Cinema Paradiso is top 10-15 all time for me, so it's hard to imagine not voting for it.)

1j: Whisper of the Heart vs. The Band's Visit

1k: Jean de Florette vs. Last Year at Marienbad (both are excellent, but Jean de Florette is a favorite)

1v: Blue is the Warmest Colour vs. Amelie (kinda tough, but then I remembered just how much I loved BITWC.

1w: Das Boot vs. Grave of the Fireflies (both are classics. I love das boot. Looking forward to finally seeing "Grave of the Fireflies" so soooo much. Will watch tonight probably)

1x: Seven Samurai vs. Gojira ( I love Gojira. I grew up with it. Adore it. But I am pretty sure after seeing all these movies "Seven Samurai" will still be the best movie in this tourney. And it's it my support to win it all. Absolutely stunning, perfect film.)

1y: Akira vs. Salo (Saoirse... Smh...)

1z: C.R.A.Z.Y vs. Umbrellas of Cherbourg (sounds like a great film. Got to find it and watch it. "Umbrellas is just about the most beautiful and colorful musical ever though. So we shall see...)

1aa: Oslo, August 31st vs. Stalker (I've got this on my Netflix queue. "Stalker" is one of my favorite recent discoveries thanks to this tournament).

1bb: Red Balloon vs. Week-end

1cc: The Sacrifice vs. La Jetee

1dd: Three Colours: Blue vs. The 400 Blows (this is another cruel matchup that could be damn near the final. If this were White, if easily go 400 Blows. But Blue and even mores so Red are just too great for me to vote against here)

1ee: The Lives of Others vs. Yeelen (yep I know but I can't find Yeelen/Brightness anywhere except on YouTube and it looks pretty crumby there. And I watched maybe 10 minutes and it didn't seem like my cups. It's got a minuscule 1,300 votes on IMDb and I just can't be bothered. I'm sorry. I may change my mind and devote near 2 hours to it. But "The lives of others" is a favorite of mine as I don't see any chance that changes. :(. )

Sorry for the inconvenience, can I swap End of Evangelion for House? The former is basically a follow up to a 26 episode series and its not really fair for those who haven't seen it

Also I doubt I've even seen half of these films... Which makes 32 films to watch. Can't you extend it a little more than two weeks? Like, six weeks or something would be nice x3 I do want to get round to everything on here and this is one of the first tourneys I've felt compelled to follow
