Mine is 0.49 so far, although I've only rated albums 2013-2015. I think it also skews low because I don't rate most things that I dislike, and I dislike a bunch of highly-rated releases.

These were my 3 releases with the highest weighted difference:

1. Kindred by Passion Pit (1.26)
2. Wondaland Presents: The Eephus by Various Artists (1.10)
3. Summer Knights (EP) by Joey Bada$$ (1.02)

What releases were you all farthest from the consensus on?

Lol mine is 0.38. I'm boring af. But I barely use it anyway. I only made an account to see how it compared to BEA, and I like this site so much better.

Seems like this will also depend heavily on how you normalize your rating scale... unless they're doing something fancy under the hood with this calculation.

Mine is 0.59, if I remember correctly this mark means I am relatively conformist. It's a good job I'm not one of these people whose whole sense of identity is derived from how different I am to other people, otherwise this might have bothered me.

technically I do, but I've used it maybe 5 times in like 2 years, and I've never actually, um, rated my music 🤣

As easy as it is to make jokes about that, this feature is naturally buggy like that. You may have to try reloading several times over a week to make it work.

Yeah, sharifi has repeatedly said he wants to redo that system in the next major update because it means nothing unless you only listen to canon music and happen to also dislike it a lot or else only listen to "love to hate" albums and rate them highly.

Man I got shit on my chart no one has added to that site, I call bullshit, like if I rate something that 100s/1000s of people rated and I go high or low, I'm a non-conformist cause the high number of ratings have surely brought the avg score somewhere to the middle point. But if my rating is kinda the same as the 8 other people who have rated a thing, I'm a conformist. This is a meaningless system.

It's the average difference (with some unknown weighting) between RYM's average rating and your average rating. Mine is 0.76.

That means your taste is relatively (compared to a lot of other users) conforming. I believe the mean of active users is .60, but I could be wrong.

This isn't to necessarily say you're a "pleb" or "sheep", though. I think you're low score comes from you rating releases with higher scores and lower ratings. Since it calculates the Conformity Rating just with your ratings against the average, this can easily affect it.

I thought this would be fun to ask any BEAers that use RYM. Go to https://rateyourmusic.com/misc/conformity, and it will go through your ratings and determine how much they deviate from the rest of RYM. The higher your score, the more rebellious and contrarian you are.

Last time I checked last week, I was at .70, which is pretty high for the number of ratings I have, but still not as high as Precedent's .74 🙁
