Might as well throw in a lineup for a fusion supergroup as well:

Guitar: Al DiMeola/John McLaughlin (how cool--a two guitar attack in a fusion band!)
Bass: Jaco Pastorius
Keyboards: Herbie Hancock
Trumpet: Eddie Henderson
Drums: Billy Cobham

Of course, most of the seminal jazz albums of the past are composed of supergroups. All the greats played on each other's recordings at one time or another.

Here's a lineup I don't think I've seen which would have been stellar;

Trumpet: Lee Morgan
Tenor: Joe Henderson
Alto: Cannonball Adderley
Trombone: Curtis Fuller
Guitar: Kenny Burrell
Piano: McCoy Tyner
Drums: Art Blakey

For jazz it would have been cool to see:
Charles Mingus on Bass
Miles Davis on Trumpet
John Coltrane on Sax
Dave Brubeck on Piano
Buddy Rich on Drums

I think Snarky Puppy is pretty much a jazz fusion supergroup. They have arguably the best keyboardist today (Cory Henry) and the best drummer today (Larnell Lewis), along with a bunch of really talented musicians. Just listen to their song Lingus, from 2014's We Like It Here.

I also found these experiences kind of fun for like 10 seconds:

Muse and Edge:
Pavarotti, Brian Eno, half of U2:
Foo Fighters is an interesting super group, which I almost never really thought of as one until I realized:

1) Dave Grohl from Nirvana
2) Pat Smear from The Germs and Nirvana
3) Nate Mendel from Sunny Day Real Estate
4) Chris Schifflet: No Use For A Name and Me First and the Gimmee Gmaosipdghap
5) Taylor Swift... oh wait, Taylor Hawkins of Alanis Morriset's blah blah (sorry I just don't care for details).

And it seems Dave Grohl has formed like 297634976 super groups. He also probably is the ultimate dad rocker given his repertoire and age group and probably the end of an era so fitting it all funnels through him... he's like Kevin Bacon for rock music... except it'd be like the 3 degrees of Dave Grohl... ahhaaha.

0) Dave Grohl + John Paul Jones + Josh Homme

The funny thing about this is that none of those people were Jimmy Page's first choice for the band.
I believe the original vision was something like:

Terry Reid (or Steve Marriott!) - Vocals
Jimmy Page - Guitar
Jeff Beck - Guitar
John Entwhistle - Bass
Keith Moon - Drums

Still I'm glad things turned out the way they did, I think the above line up might have been ... somewhat chaotic.
But still if I have to choose an alternate one, I would line up
Eric Clapton -Guitar and Vocals
Freddie Mercury - Vocals
Phil Collins - Drums and Vocals
Paul McCartney - Bass and Vocals
And I would get the album produced by Brian Wilson
P.S.- I also would've liked Bob Dylan,Eddie Vedder and Jeff Mangum to get together and Jam at least once in the lifetime of the Universe

Now THAT would be a fascinating rhythm section. I think Bruford would really be able to support/reinforce the complexity of Entwistle's playing, rather than cloud it in the way Moon occasionally does. I do love The Who though, not trying to knock Keith Moon or anything 😁

I actually think that would work; I would love to hear that as well 😎

It already exists--it's called Rush

Bass Guitar -- Geddy Lee
Drums -- Neil Peart
Guitar -- Alex Lifeson

How did all that talent end up in one group?

Okay, so I might consider a different vocalist, but Geddy's definitely a good fit for that music.

I would be fascinated to hear:

Drums: Bill Bruford
Bass: Flea
Keyboards: Steve Naive
Guitar: David Gregory
Vocals: Steve Marriott

Though I possibly have to many 'tasteful' musicians in there
