How about the glorious

Rock'n'Roll (pt. 1 & 2) by Gary Glitter? The much more popular pt. 2 was the b-side of the single.

Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams had Songbird as the "flip-side". That should count as a double-A.

I do not own that many singles. But the best example of a single with equally good songs would be this little gem:

Chelsea: Right To Work/The Loner

The great John Peel was fond of playing Elvis B-sides, always claiming he preferred them to the A-side.

Split A's were something that they only had in the UK, I think. They never had them in the states. The only place I ever saw one was in an import record store once in a while. I wonder if other countries had them too.

This topic is probably only of Interest to people well over thirty but I always found it interesting. In today's age where people buy their music digitally, there's no such thing as a double sided hit. It was only in the age of the vinyl single that there was such a thing. A double sided hit was a hit single where both the A- side and the B-side became chart hits. And sometimes they're known as a double- A sides. I think the Beatles were most famous for this. Sometimes even both the A- side and the B-side were both number one hits. But that was rare.

Anyway, here's a couple of the most amazing ones.
