While Yngvie Malmsteen is no doubt a fleet-fingered technical wizard, it's hard to think of him as an "artist" as he seems to repeat himself a lot just endlessly shredding minor scales at warp speed like a six xtring Paganini without the imagination.

However, there is some real musical merit on his debut album to go with his frenetic fretboard frenzy.

My late beautiful precious Steve Sanders is who makes me listen to anything from the Oak Ridge Boys...to me, it was him who made the act shine their brightest, I love him so much!!!

God bless you and his family always!!!

This album is ace but, apart from the tracks Dreamer and Give a Little Bit, which are also ace, and perhaps School, I find the rest of their output mediocre at best. Crime of the Century is seriously overrated IMO. How it rated so many positions higher on the Overall BEA chart is beyond me. I think Breakfast in America is 10 times better.

I actually like this album. I haven't spun it in a while, but my wife bought it and I think I listened to it more than her... haha.
Are there any artists that you always thought sucked, and then they finally made an album you liked?

The one that comes to my mind is Madonna. I always thought her music was the worst kind of overrated, mediocre commercial crap, and then about 20 years into her career she finally made a decent album. Confessions on a Dancefloor, which I actually thought was pretty good. Musically, anyway.

Do you have any like that?
