This:

Link

The lyrical intensity really drops off as you get into the second half of the track.
I used to didn't care.

Sometimes now I'm like, well how do they end it? That's kinda cheap to just fade out.

Sometimes it makes sense, but most of the time it is frustrating... especially on a 2 minute motown song or something. But sometimes that's what makes it great, right, the mystery and shortness.

any examples in mind ?

I realize, like I said earlier, sometimes this creates mystery, keeps your on your toes, but I feel like the song explodes in the last 30 seconds, but then just fades. On one hand I love the structure, and on another, it's really hard to not want to know where it goes.

Yes fade out often seem a bit lazy. I don't think it's much used anymore
Another example: 'Beds Are Burning' - Midnight Oil: killer intro/verse, love that bassline, but then such a bland chorus..

I actually really like the hook on Beds Are Burning. It might repeat itself a bit too much as the song goes on, however I've always liked it and how their singer delivers it.

Haven't listened to that song in a long time though, thanks for the earworm haha.

I love the intro for 'Killing in the Name Of' - RATM, verse is cool, but the chorus then drops the ball..

Another example: 'Beds Are Burning' - Midnight Oil: killer intro/verse, love that bassline, but then such a bland chorus..

Yikes, thankfully they knew better to keep it the way it is, as if lost in an endless Dali-esque, surrealistic dream, winding through suspended time, lost in "the other side" -- an alternate, metaphysical reality before the volcanic eruption of overwhelming violence and cataclysm.

Gangsta by Tune-Yards has one of the coolest intros ever and then it kinda goes downhill. Still a cool song though. I also think Beetlebum by Blur has a really cool intro and then the chorus is a bit underwhelming.

Yeah, but I think that Layla keeps the momentum going all the way to the end. And Hey Jude kind of does.
