To answer your question, the redesigned site will eventually have tagging, but the first step is to get the redesigned site into production (which has been taking a while), and from there it will be possible to add all of the new features that people have been requesting over the past couple of years (while the site has been re-developed in the background). <br /> <br /> I think, as you mention, there are a lot of benefits in having some kind of tagging system. First and foremost it will allow the site to be a browsed in new ways which will add a new dimension for people using the site.
