I agree with most of the many fine soundtracks to be mentioned. I just have 3 to add:

Superman by John Williams

The Commitments (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by The Commitments

Withnail & I by Various Artists

Plus the mad soundtrack to fine Australian movie Bad Boy Bubby, if such a soundtrack is available.

Good call 😄 Got to go see Lady Bird pronto. Greta Gerwig is awesome.The last one I saw her in, Mistress America, was a great film and had a killer soundtrack as well as I recall. Suicide and shit like that.

Honestly I'm not surprised you have never heard the Ring of the Nibelung. It is rarely ever performed. It's basically all the really snobby opera super-fan's critics choice and not for the faint of heart 😄

Well Mozart wrote plenty of great operas which are now movies (Sorry for the confusion). My Favorite are La Clemenza Di Tito and Idomeneo. Its actually better if you listen to the older opera movies cuz they have better singing. If you look at my chart though you can see my favorite opera is Wagner's Der Ring Des Nibelungen, which is 15 hours long but worth it (Hint: It doesn't sound like you think)
