According to Wikipedia In The Summertime has sold 10 million copies. Add in successful cover versions and advertising and movies revenue and you are talking about a lot of dollar from one little song.

He had 2 number ones in the UK. The other one was Baby Jump. Its a catchy little 70's song.

The guy from Mungo Jerry - who sang In The Summertime - lives a few streets away from me. Ray Dorset. And he lives in the county of Dorset. He is quite a small chap. You see him in the coffee shops of Westbourne, Bournemouth. He wears a black curly wig.

I saw him in Costa Coffee shop talking to his agent about what TV shows he would consider doing, like Britain's Got Talent or I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. He said no to most of them. I wanted to talk to him but he seemed real busy. I didn't want to cramp his style.

He performed at the Westbourne Christmas Lights switch-on last year. I missed him but my friend Janet got his autograph. Apparently he owns a couple of hotels in the area. The street he lives in is fairly well-to-do but the houses are not massive by any means. Looks like he lives modestly. I like that. S'pose he could have more than one house though.

I LOVE In the Summertime. But I haven't heard it since I was about 10 years old.

Face The Music is more fine work from the Electric Light Orchestra, which rather quietly has evolved into a most consistent septet. Leader Jeff Lynne remains one of a few Sixties rockers who has developed a new and more adventurous style with a minimum of chaff in the process. One Summer Dream was probably meant to be a follow-up hit to I Can't get it out of My Head from the previous album. It was a pretty big hit. And One Summer Dream is very similar, but instead of sounding like just an imitation of the previous hit, it turned out just as good. I think face the music is better than new world record and out of the blue. Actually it's probably my favorite. It just has more winners on it than the other ones. And they're better songs too.

Is California Dreaming by the Mamas and the Papas a summer song or a song about longing for the summer in the winter time?

The Rascals groovin reminds me of Summer too. Even though they don't mention it in the song.

Yeah, California Dreamin is about dreaming "on such a Winter's day", as the song goes.
