I've never heard OK Computer fully so i would say that is it. But as far as never hearing anything off of an album it would be Arcade Fire's Funeral

Mine would be Blonde on Blonde. Since I don't like anything else by Dylan, I never saw the need. I just put it on and could only stand it for 5 minutes, so it will stay unlistened.

After that, it's Blood on the Tracks and then MBDTF. 47/50, I'm surprised that it's so high.

my top 10

6/ Kid A (I like the experimental song where he sings quietly, perhaps I should give the album another try)
7/ Funeral (I like the song "the suburbs" on an other album, but that's it for now)
8/ Led Zeppelin 4 (Strange how I haven't felt the need to listen to Led Zepellin albums, because I like the band, the songs, the live performances..Perhaps slightly too bluesy for my taste.)
13/ In Rainbows
17/ In an Aeroplane Over the Sea (Curently considering planning a third try)
18/ The Bends
20/ Highway 61 Revisited

I have a pretty in depth knowledge of a very narrow slice of the music scene, so there's going to be a lot of stuff that I haven't listened to. The top 10 I haven't listened to are

Yikes, only 5 of the top 15. Looks like I've got some work to do.

It used to be that collecting vinyl and CD’s and displaying your collection was an expression of your taste, but in the age of streaming, where everything is available, exclusion might be a better indicator.

I still feel the overwhelming urge to explore everything, though, but feel somewhat relieved when I can rule it out.

Still, there are albums that I flat out seem to avoid, or can’t get through even when I try. They tend to to be Rap/Hip-Hop, certain kinds of Indie Rock, and any Metal album with ghoulish devil-worshipping album art. I’d like to think it has more to do with taste than prejudice.

I don't think I'll ever listen to these albums except for London Calling, because I've heard songs off of all of them. In some cases it's like "oh, I really do not like this", like with Bob Dylan. I get nothing from his lyrics, do not like his voice, and am not interested in the music that surrounds all that. And this isn't meant to be a knock on the music at all, I think it's totally justified in having the status it does. But it does not interest me and I don't see any reason to check off the box just to say that I did. And some of these I even like the songs I've heard, like I can hear a song from Rolling Stones or Led Zepplin and be like "hey that's cool" and then maybe even hear a 2nd one after that, but if I hear a third after that? By that point, I'd rather hear a song from someone else. I'm totally fine with all of this, except The Clash seem cool, I should give that one a spin.

The Wall was at one point my favorite Floyd album and is also one of the albums that exposed me to classic rock and 70s prog - some people think it has too much filler - I don’t agree

Joshua Tree is my favorite from U2, although it took me until a few weeks ago to give it a thorough listen.

Zeppelin II is my all time favorite Zep album - it’s so good...

Pearl Jam Ten is the quintessential grunge album and the pinnacle of Pearl Jam imo - but to me it comes off as a little corny or boring at times. Basically a really solid hard rock album with Vedder’s iconic voice. I don’t love this album but it’s still really good.

In Utero is regarded by many as Nirvana’s masterpiece but I prefer Nevermind

Siamese Dream is my all time favorite album so definitely listen to that..

So I guess my top 3 from that list in terms of importance and my personal preference would be Siamese Dream, The Wall and Zep II

So, I created a playlist of top-ranking “never heard” albums, and included “heard but just don’t get” albums.

This morning I tried:

Arcade Fire “Funeral”
It must be the second or third time I’ve tried this. It still remains impenetrable to me. I get that it must be about grief. Perhaps the key to this one, is getting into it lyrically, but it’s musically and vocally so unremarkable to me that I can’t enter into the lyrics.

Neutral Milk Hotel “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea”
As the songs run together, I’m sure there must be a grand concept here, but I’m not sure what it is. I thought the guy’s voice from Arcade Fire was hard to tolerate, but it was pleasant in comparison to the incessant whine of this guy, as he goes on about “semen staining the mountain tops”.

There are albums that I can appreciate the merit in, but aren’t my cup of tea. Then, there are albums like these that are ranked so highly, that I’m left scratching my head, pondering how little I have in common with some other humans.

Since all of mine are so high on the charts, what are my top three oversights? I’ll listen to the most selected ones this week or next.

@Rhyner I’ve heard two of those. Mr. Tambourine Man is a great album that helped lay the groundwork for jangle pop over a decade later. Awaken, My Love has one transcendent track (Redbone) and everything else is good but fails to measure up.

Knowing how much you enjoy soul - honestly the albums with the most soul from this list are from Led Zeppelin and U2.

I guess I went through a phase of listening to older stuff 5 or so years ago (hence the make-up of some of my charts), but it is just not a priority right now.

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel

I've never heard that Neutral Milk Hotel album (something about an aeroplane and the sea). Keep meaning to get a hold of it and see what all the fuss is about, but whenever I've got some spending money either something more enticing comes along or I just forget.

My next highest is, I think, Animals.

There are higher ranked albums that I've only listened to once and have very little memory of, as well.

I can't speak for the other two, but I've tried Bob Dylan. You noticed I didn't list Highway 61 Revisited which is ranked higher, because I have listened to that, plus a greatest hits collection and several random songs. Dylan has never gelled with me and that's why I haven't listened to much of him.
