Another austrilian band which has a great album and many good albums is

Midnight oil. Diesel and Dust. This album is absolutely brilliant from start to finish. And it rocks!

I have listened to their other live/studio productions, and they have created many fantastic songs, but
they have not been able, unfortunately, to duplicate the success of "diesel and dust".

Aldo Nova- Aldo Nova his first album is really really good. His guitar work is mentionable

Billy Squier - Dont Say No Great album. Footnote: i do not own/or have listened to his entire work. i know 4 albums very well. But "Dont Say No" is really fantastic. High school math teacher turned rock musician has a cool tale to it as well.
Comment: I find, that the level of music credibility, is questionable when i read members comments that suggest the rolling stones only produced 1 or 2 good albums, or many good songs. Really Unbelievable.

Gonna copypaste some stuff I said in a different thread about the only Fleetwood Mac album I genuinely enjoy:

Skinny wrote:

Tango In The Night by Fleetwood Mac

The best/potentially only consistently tolerable Fleetwood Mac record. Which sounds like faint praise, but I really do love this album, whilst simultaneously hating most everything else they ever did. The production is so crystalline and enveloping - Buckingham has a lot to be proud of here. It's dreamy yet muscular, and it really turns some already strong pop songs into utter masterpieces of the form. I also feel like the vague lyrical nature - pseudo-universal themes of big love, found everywhere if possible - suits this sound better than their well-worn, on again/off again sagas would've, working in synthesis with the cavernously reverbed percussion, sparkling synths and clipped jabs of bright guitar to create something huge, which the group had admittedly managed previously, and hopeful, which they very much hadn't. I understand the most frequent criticisms of this album, that it's too sonically ersatz and lyrically wishy-washy, but I instead find them to be this record's greatest strengths, and the greatest strengths of the one version of Fleetwood Mac that I can actually get behind.

Oh....I LOVE Hair of the Dog! But...Razamanazz is awesome, too.

My pick would be The Clash. And I am referring to their first album. London Calling...frankly it just reeks of pretension to me. That first album, though....amazing.

This is one of the worst opinions I've seen on this site lol.

But Pet Sounds isn't their only great album, Sunflower is almost as good!

Pet Sounds is so full of the tenderness of youth. It's an emotionally specific sort of record and I think it feels less relevant as you get a bit older. Some of their other albums are probably more accessible and universal for all ages. Sunflower, Friends and Love You are my favourites. These albums are all great, though are not as technically perfect as Pet Sounds.

A couple previous mentions I wanted to touch on:

Queen might not have a spotless record start to finish but I would consider at least A Night at the Opera and Queen II to be great records.

Metallica have at least 3 truly great albums.

Both Badmotorfinger and Superunknown are gems in the Soundgarden catalog and I love King Animal too.

21stCenturySchiz wrote:

Basically, this is for the discussion of bands that in their whole discography have only one great/good album while the rest could range from okay-terrible

I'll mention some names

Oasis- I absolutely Love (What's The Story) Morning Glory. But everything else i've heard with the exception of some songs here and there are abysmal. Granted, this may change as i have not heard Definitely Maybe save for Supersonic so maybe that's a great record

Quiet Riot- Metal Health is a great album. Everything else is a bit of the same (Although the Randy Rhoads material was pretty great)

Warrant- Dirty, Rotten Filthy, Stinkin Rich is really the only consistently good album all the way through imo

Get onto Definitely Maybe ASAP.

Couldn't get into Mental Jewelry. Maybe I should revisit it. Secret Samadhi was terrible, and I didn't pursue further.

Ah yes. I love this album, and Blue was a huge letdown. Out of curiosity, I checked to see the difference in rankings for 3eb's albums. After the wonderful first album, the next 3eb album is currently ranked 9,491 spots behind it. I think that might be the BEA record for steepest drop-off.
