Thanks for replying AM. I hadn't seen the lounge rules before. I guess that sharing more personal stories could easily go wrong due to misunderstandings or insensitive comments. Kind of a shame, but I see it would be hard to protect against these pitfalls.

With a lot of talk in the media these days about the mental health issues that can relate to social media use, it got me thinking about BEA usage and the possible positive/ negative effects on mental health. Particularly regarding the social aspects of the site, like commenting on each others charts and the forums.

On the whole I think BEA is a much more friendly place than I would expect to find on internet forums anywhere and I know a lot of people agree with this. I enjoy using the site but I'm wondering if there is more we could do to build community and make it an even more supportive and welcoming place? E.g. maybe thinking about the kind of less-music focused/ more personal threads that we could keep active? I've noticed that some of the most rewarding threads are when users share something more personal but this is a pretty infrequent occurrence. Could we be more proactive in seeking these kind of conversations using the site?

And maybe we could have more dialogue about potential mental health pitfalls of using the site as well (and how to mitigate against this)?

Anyway, not sure where I am going with this but just thought I would start a conversation and see where it went. Any thoughts?
