I'm content with the inductees. The Cure & Radiohead are fine by me... You cant win them all. I'm still not sold on Stevie Nicks or The Zombies but oh well. Def Leppard was a head scratcher but I guess it fits the bill of cliche "dad rock bands" being inducted. Obviously there are so many other deserving artists who continue to get snubbed, so I'll keep my head high knowing The Cure and Radiohead got in.

The Rock Hall inductions were also the last time The Velvet Underground ever performed, so there is some good to come of these ceremonies.

I was just about to post something about this, thanks for finding it.

SO, here is the one amazing thing about these Rock Hall Inductions is that we get to see good performances of bands that have not performed in awhile, or good covers from worthy people.

If they somehow pulled most of these bands together or get some interesting people to cover this music, than that show is going to be godly.

A bill with The Cure, Roxy Music, and The Zombies? It would be like a fever dream.

Proof that these shows are good.

The Cure, Janet Jackson, Radiohead, and Roxy Music are all great picks. Not sure about Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks as a solo artist, or The Zombies.

I guess Radiohead should get in even though I dislike their music and a lot of it isn't rock. The Zombies are deserving, very underrated. Where's Jethro Tull? Fantastic group

My sentiment exactly.... I think her multiple cameos on various seasons of American Horror Story might have some sort of effect on her popularity lately. Also, I think the casual person sees her name, knows a few of the hits and thinks, "She's not in yet? That's a shame, I'll vote for her" when she's already been recognized as part of Fleetwood Mac - her only output even worth noting. Funny, the RNR Hall nominees are announced the same week she makes a national appearance on a popular network series??

This. Any optimism I've had about the rock hall has been gone for some time now, but when I saw that I felt like I lost it all again.

My statement was too broad. I just meant the inductee selections of halls of fame, not the museums themselves, which are usually cool. The only other hall of fame that I have paid much attention to the induction process for is baseball. I used to be absolutely obsessed with the sport back when I played myself, and I am still a fan. There is little rhyme or reason to the selections, they don't follow their own stated criteria with any regularity, and some incredibly mediocre players are now in the hall (cough cough Jack Morris cough cough).

Jack Morris was one of the most reliable, consistent pitchers for over a decade. Part of his career was the during the Roid Era and he faced DHs his whole career, so those might have impacted his career numbers. But I agree his HoF credentials are questionable. Ha, I didn't know you were a baseball fan. You haven't commented on the MLB thread in the Lounge section (but then again, there isn't much interest there in general and I won't probably won't host it again in 2019). Are we gonna have a Red Sox-Dodgers World Series?

But anyway, back on topic. HoF museums are cool, Rock and Roll included, even if we don't agree with all their inductions and omissions.

Not to continue the baseball thread, but Jack Morris has the most wins of any pitcher of the 80's, a no-hitter, 3 world series titles, a world series mvp (where he pitched one of the most memorable games in the history of baseball), and 5 all star appearances. Yeah he's got a high ERA, but he was far from an average player.

As for the travesty that is the Rock Hall, I'm so over giving a shit about it. They are so out of touch and need to realign the whole voting process. They could really make it a great thing and a very interactive process, as I've heard that rock is the people's music after all, but they refuse for some reason. I could list off all of the acts who have been fucked for years but that would be boring at this point.

Let's take Journey and Def Leppard and put them up against Iron Maiden and Judas Priest just for an example. Def Leppard will get in this year because they are apparently the next in a line of vanilla 80's cock rock outfits to headline the rock hall induction. Journey got in last year I believe. Although they both have been successful touring acts to this day, when is the last time either Leppard or Journey put out an album, or even a fucking song that you cared about? Iron Maiden and Judas Priest within the last 3 calendar years put out a new record that was acclaimed by both fans and critics for the most part and are still (especially Maiden) big live draws anywhere they go. I won't even get into full discography comparisons. For some reason though logic and reason escape the voters and they ignore what is supposed to be the number one point of criteria: Influence.

I'll be happy for any artist or band that deserves induction and gets in, but it's not even fun to be mad about it anymore.
