Listen, as soon as I heard the "Black Dynamite" sample from Creamed Corn, played by Tommy Davidson, there was no way that the album was going to disappoint me. There's something incredibly meta about a parody of Blaxploitation movies being used on a rap album, since real Blaxploitation movies have had an indelible relationship with hip hop sampling.

Yeah The Mint definitely works better in an album context, and it's not one of my favorite tracks from Some Rap Songs. That said, it's still easily my preference here.

Earl's album is definitely better than the some of its parts but The Mint is one song I enjoy listening to on its own. I prefer it to the other song which isn't really my style of R&B.

You're totally right, a single doesn't do the album justice, but I had to slip in some dues for him. And regardless, it's still a fantastic track.

Both songs are ok for me, but nothing more. I have a slight preference here for The MInt, who got my vote.

Completely agree with Skinny here. I LOVE Earl Sweatshirt, but have to agree that this track doesn't quite work as a standalone single. Whereas I'm loving the charm of this Ness Nite album and honestly could have picked a couple of different tracks from her genre defying impossible to pigeonhole LP.
