Josh Tillman is an absolute lyrical genius. Instrumentation not so much, but he doesn't have to be. Pretty concerned for his mental health though. God's Favorite Customer was uncomfortably personal and dark.

Tallest Man is definitely inspired by Bob Dylan which is cool. Salad Days was fantastic! Mac is fun and catchy for sure.

I think Honeybear is easily the best thing any of them have done, but I probably find Mac the least frequently intolerable.

Haven't really listened to TMOE, but out of the remaining two it's Mac easily. FJM can be brilliant esp lyrically, but is often pretentious, while Mac is pure fun most of the time.
Still, Mac's 2017 album, while not bad, is nowhere near the level of Salad Days.

I think he's great; especially on the lyrical side. Maybe you just haven't clicked with him yet.

Have really enjoyed them all. All have that folky type rock style I love in a singer songwriter. They all prove that solo rock artist can still make fantastic music.

My vote goes to Mac, though I might've said FJM a couple years ago. But, I should probably give Tallest Man another thorough listen.

All of these artists are overrated, although none of them are a waste of time. Mac Demarco is easily my preference.

FJM mostly due to his 2017 release which I liked very much and the other artists works I have listened to me had no impact on me at all.
