Further to my previous answer to this, those who dug this LP might be interested to know Al, Nat and Vin Gordon literally just released this today. A few words - to whom it seemed interesting.

Good lyrics are much less common than good music.
And this album is not distinguished by the refinement of the syllable.
All the music and all the lyrics were composed and recorded by a guy who looks no more than 19-20 years old.
Only on drums helped his companion, who, perhaps, even younger.
It is believed that in January 2019 they performed for the first time at an official concert.
There was a comment in the Russian press that the style of the music and the meaning of the band’s songs are not clear.
One could agree with that.
But the second album - Parting (2019), helped to attribute them to progressive, as I understand it.

The name of the album (2018) - I Today Dreamed a Feat.
The content of the whole album is dedicated to the events of this sleep.
The narration is conducted in the corresponding figurative key.
You are not told a dream, you see it yourself.
You see a sleep, as if you are actually 18 years old.
Chaotic colored pictures change very quickly.
There are a lot of words in the songs, it reminds rap.
But the phrases are easy to remember and pronounce, they are simple and often repeated.
On the other hand, there is no direct meaning, it often reminds nonsense.
The effect of unreality is enhanced by vocals, it changes, superimposed with different timbres.
But the voice is dominated by the hue of punk, in which there is no aggression, there are absolutely no obscene words.
Rather, it is used to look older.
Arrangements are progressing, the acoustics are replaced by electronics, which gradually becomes larger.

Throughout the album, there are only images.
Loneliness, city, fortress, fire, darkness, fear of death.
Everyone can put accents, see your own sleep.
In my sleep, the main song number 3 - My Fire.
There is a classic forcing not only music, but also content.
The hero feels that he is choking, dying, burning in his own city.
The city calms him down. But the hero will never be different.
Who will be with him at the last second, when he will experience the strongest fear.
On these words in the background a heart-rending cry is heard several times.
When you enter a state of trance, in this place it is impossible not to scream yourself.

Thanks for the clarity!

I enjoyed both of these albums but while Sounds Almighty is clearly the more professional higher quality album, I found Tima Ishet Svet the more interesting album. If I was to choose to play one of these albums again that's the one I would come back to. Although it didn't grab me too much at first I believe it could grow on me with repeat listens.

In the end the winner goes to breadwinner... ok I'll see myself out now.

Anyway, I actually liked sometimes the vocal style of Tima Ishet Svet, and the guitar was nice. The problem I have with that record is musically it never really took off. It was a bit too simple musically for me. I suppose I'd care about what he's saying to make up for it, but in the end, even in English, the lack of great music doesn't make up for the amazing lyrics. Music first, lyrics second.

So even if I felt the other album got a bit samey at times, it had enough musical depth to get my vote.
Yeah, Man From Wareika (or better still the dubwise Wareika Dub) is a good shout. Otherwise seeing as the majority of them were originally jazz men try seeking some out the 70s and 80s work of former Skatalite hornsmen (Cedric Im Brooks, and Tommy McCook in particular, although the latter’s output can be a little patchy - Dubbin With Horns is worth a shot, as is the Sannic Sounds LP on Dub Store (ironically the first album I ever featured in my BEA diary). Personal favourite would be this:

Roll On by Roland Alphonso

All the above are typically a little more ‘reggae’ than Sounds Almighty but feature at least a couple of fine moments to dig your teeth into.

Tima Isha Svet is another nomination that left me cold. I can't evaluate it lyrically, so it was up to the other elements to catch my interest. I find his vocals to be rather bad, and the musicianship, while fine, doesn't really go to interesting or memorable places.

Jimmy's nominee is a very good instrumental roots album with heavy dub influence. Easily gets my vote. Where would you suggest people who like this album go next? Rico, maybe?

Indeed. I'm probably the most reggae averse person ever to prowl these boards, and it didnt take long for me to decide I really dig this album.

Heck, if it came down to this album vs the one I nominated, I'd probably have to listen to them each a few times to be sure I even wanted to vote for my own nomination.

Sounds Almighty is the only album I have previous knowledge of for this entire round, and it gets an easy vote from me. Didn't love it, but it's a solid record. Gave the Tima Ishet Svet record a spin on Soundcloud yesterday and it really wasn't my thing at all. I find a bit sporadic and sloppy.

It likely won't go too far in this tourney, but I'm stoked to be representing one of the finest instrumental roots LPs I've heard in a long, long time.

For those who don't usually dig music tagged with the 'r' word, don't be put off. There's some amazing horn work on this album - from Nat Birchall's sax (he's a prominent feature of the UK jazz scene, albeit unheralded) to Vin Gordon aka Don Drummond Jr's trombone work. And yeah, it'll appeal to those already converted to the church (Al Breadwinner's production and mixing, especially the dub reworks, are stellar) but I reckon ska and jazz heads might get a little out of this too. And yeah, it sounds like it could have come out in the 70s, but big deal. Meditative, spiritual, deep - and bloody terrific.
