definitely in agreement on portishead. i agree confield is autechre's best, though i'm not so sure about the rest of that. chiastic slide comes in second for me, though lp5 and tri repetae are close behind.

Wish You Were Here and probably Animals top Dark Side for me by a little bit.

I prefer Bomber to Ace Of Spades in the Motorhead catalog.

Permanent Waves is my favorite Rush album and even with the big songs on it, a CRIMINALLY underrated and often times overlooked record.

As with a few responses so far, In A Silent Way is my favorite Miles album, and Red is my favorite by King Crimson.

I also agree with an earlier comment, Number of the Beast is a legendary staple in heavy metal but it is not Iron Maiden's best record. Spending time in quarantine gave me time to think out, for sure, my favorite Iron Maiden album and that's Powerslave. 🥰

After hearing all the classic Judas Priest records at least once, Sin After Sin is my favorite.... maybe.... 🧱 🧱 🧱

Now that I think about it, I put Siouxsie's Juju and Nirvana's Nevermind in the same boat. Both are fantastic, but not their best, and I wouldn't put either in the top 100. Juju falls into accidental monotony a few times, and it doesn't have the adventure that Tinderbox and Peepshow provide. Nevermind's a finely made piece of alternative, but the true grunge sound is closer to the lyrically and aurally superior In utero.

I haven't heard all of the Siouxsie albums, but there are two albums I place over Juju, and those are Peepshow (which is in my top 20) and Tinderbox which is Juju 2.0.

Just going to go through the top artists on this site and review.

My favorite Beatles album (and favorite album of all time) is the White Album, which while being critically acclaimed, is only their 4th best ranked album on this site.

Favorite Radiohead album is The Bends, which is also their 4th best ranked album on this site.

Favorite Pink Floyd album is Animals, again their 4th ranked.

Favorite Bowie is Blackstar, his 5th ranked.

Favorite Dylan is Blonde on Blonde, 2nd ranked.

When we get to Led Zeppelin is when I finally agree with the ranking.

I would agree with this edit. They never made a bad album, but self-titled is their peak.

Let It Bleed is way better, and is their only great album.

But I'll agree that the love Let It Bleed gets is baffling. I'll take Exile On Main Street over Sticky Fingers, but the latter is still clearly ahead of Let It Bleed. Not really sure what the consensus best Stones album is.

Agree with the stance that Blood on the Tracks and Blonde on Blonde are better than Highway 61 which has been mentioned multiple times in this thread.

Also agree that In Utero is better than Nevermind, though both are solid.

This Is Happening is a lot better than Sound of Silver.

"Heroes," Low, Station to Station and Blackstar are all better than Hunky Dory and especially Ziggy Stardust.

Agree with the earlier mention of The Queen is Dead not being the Smiths' best album, but a hard disagree with it being Strangeways, which I don't think is really any good, easily their worst. Meat is Murder is their best, imo.

Vespertine is a lot better than Homogenic.

The Beatles don't really have a single consensus best album, usually it comes down to Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper or Revolver. I'm on side Revolver, though the Abbey Road medley may be the best thing they've done. The first half of that album just drags it down. Sgt. Pepper is not good.

Twin Fantasy, the original, is better than Teens of Denial or its rerecording.

Currents is better than Lonerism. Neither are very good, but at least the former has Let It Happen.

Pure Comedy is better than Honeybear. Both are great, but the former is one of the 5 best albums of the 2010s. Maybe top 3.

They're close, but I think I've grown to appreciate Wish You Were Here more than Dark Side of the Moon, though I don't love either. Animals is not good.

Led Zeppelin is better than IV.

They're both close in acclaim, but I'll throw out there that there's a huge difference in quality between Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain, in the former's favor.

Sun Ship is better than A Love Supreme by a longshot.
Stand's better than There's a Riot Goin' On. The latter's just too long and not psychedelic enough.
American Idiot's better than Dookie.
Give me Electric Ladyland over Are You Experienced anytime. Electric Ladyland is the most guitar driven album I'm familiar with, and it's incredible how the other members of the band are able to keep up with Jimi.
In Utero over Nevermind. I like the polished sound and all, but In Utero is essentially the 90's TVU&N.

Most people disagree, but I prefer Ferment over Chrome. The former somehow manages to be an excellent grunge and an excellent shoegaze album, and it has more standout tracks, while the latter has more of a plain rock sound.

Nick Drake: Bryter Layter over Pink Moon.
Lou Reed: Berlin over Transformer as others have said.
Led Zep: 3 over 4 (but I guess it has to do with overplaying)
Jethro Tull: Stand up over Aqualung or TAAB
The Doors: Strange days over s/t (despite The End, wich I think is their higuest achieve)
Beatles: Rubber soul is the only one that has been latest years in my car, over AR or Rev or SP
