I hear you. Even though it's in the Fergie era, Elephunk wasn't a bad album, and I would take any of those songs over I Got a Feeling. I actually like Where is the Love and Let's Get Retarded (Let's Get It Started).

I could never possibly compile a list of my favourite tracks. Albums would be easy peasy but not tracks. With that said I probably already know what my absoloute favourite track of the decade would be. The number 1. Numero Uno. The king. A controversial pick to be sure but I stand by it.

The song is an homage to her late boyfriend, who was her musical collaborator until he died from a heart defect at age 23 before the album could be completed. Hence that repeated "feeeel my heartbeat" near the end resonates both lovingly and achingly admist the insouciant fun that she describes. It is sung from the perspective of looking back on that time in her life ("there was a time") and that final epilogue ("I won't forget greatest times I had when I was dancing with you") perfects that happy/sad dichotomy with which she excels so well. It's simply one of the most moving memorials I've ever heard in song. The entire album is likewise peppered with these little powerhouse moments and it feels like a triumph at the hands of such a devastating loss that she projects a positive outlook throughout.

I knew about the late boyfriend thing, a very sad story. Didn't know that the song was about him though 😕 Either way, I like the song 😎

Here's my picks of the list. Not the strongest list, but it's ok, but some weird choices for certain artists. I'm amazed they put "Empire State of Mind" above "99 Problems". And I would put "My Love" above "Sexyback". The biggest non-pick for me is "Ignition (Remix)". That song is amazing and fits in well with the songs that went there.
