I'm up for anything, but I would advise starting sooner or later especially as we're all still likely to have plenty of free-time. Don't overlap the tournaments though, since that will surely push many matches to the second page, which is a death knell for those individual threads

I agree it would be best not to have a month plus of down time. Was thinking we could maybe overlap them a bit, since the end of the 2015-2019 tourney will go a bit faster once everyone knows the songs. But I worry about having two competing tourneys clutter the Games forum and making it hard to keep track of matches.

I also tried to work out the math for how we can squeeze the song tourney into 6 weeks, but I think it would be tricky even if we had 8 matches open at a time, and that's a bit much. Plus that might be extended based on participation and play-in rounds. Rather than rush, let's start something within the next two weeks and set the date of the other tourney once we have a better idea of when the first one will end. I don't have much of a preference of which goes first. Can see benefits to keeping the momentum of the songs tourneys but it also might be nice to have a break for something else for a bit. I'm in favor of bumping the 2019 tourney up to June 1st and having the song tourney start after it ends if there are no objections.

I can start the 2019 album tournament on June 1 instead and then we could do the 2015-19 songs tournament after that. Or someone can start the 2015-19 songs tournament ASAP and I can postpone the 2019 album tournament.

Just checked, the play-in matches for 2010-2014 tourney started on the 6th of March, and it ended on 12th of May. 67 days if my math's correct (not counting the nominations period), which means 6 weeks (42 days) in not enough to run the 2015-2019 tourney. We can start the 2019 tourney sooner (like in a week) and play 2015-2019 after that, or the other way around. Either way, 2019 tourney dates have to change. Or we can take a 6 week break, play the 2019 tourney and then the latter half of the decade one. Of course baystate and whoever ends up running 2015-2019 have to agree, they're the ones doing all of the work for us (big thanks!)

It's an interesting win. I thought Oblivion would get far, but I didn't actually see BEA picking it as the #1.

Either way, decent choice :). Still waiting for her to say sike on the kid's name though.

As long as Alright doesn't win the next tournament, we should be fine. I don't see this community picking that over The Blacker the Berry. At least I hope we don't. I'd also prefer Wesley's Theory, King Kunta, These Walls, How Much a Dollar Cost and i on that album alone, but we'll see. I'm personally not gonna nominate any Kendrick tracks myself - I trust others to do that.

Congrats Repo, great nom. Oblivion looked like a certain winner to me ever since it knocked out Kendrick's Sing About Me. And it's definitely deserving even if I prefered a few other songs. A near-perfect pop tune.

Also we've just turned into Pitchfork wannabes 🤣

Oh my beautiful Grimes, donno why aiding the passing on the genes of Rocket Boy and naming the kid after what seems like an Algebra in-house ever felt like a good idea, but that doesn't do anything to diminish the captivating power of Oblivion, congrats to her and Repos captainship! Also mad props to Gibbs and Skinny, who also had a great tournament run and giving Pinata even more exposure it de f deserves.
