I don't know many people under the age of 40 who can name a single Bay City Rollers song.
I remember years ago in LA...Hermosa Beach, specifically. There was a guy playing the darkest and smallest of gigs who claimed to have been a late period member of the Bay City Rollers. He played "Saturday Night" 3 or 4 times per show. His name was Duncan Fuare, and I looked him up...he actually was in the band from 1978-80 as the lead singer. It was kind of sad, really. We all just remember him pounding his guitar, doing shots and asking if anyone wanted to hear "Saturday Night" again.

Maybe. The year after that he was in Jumanji 2, so maybe he's just taking a break from music. It's likely for the best.

Pretty much any Disney Channel teen idol. I could be wrong but I think the only reason people still remember Nick Jonas is because apparently he's very good at acting.

Only other song I can remember from the BCR is like "Bye Bye Baby" and its a very forgettable 70s standard. Or maybe its not that forgettable if I remembered it off-hand.

Squier seems to make passable, half-decent AOR by what I can hear. Nothing offensively bad to my ears.

Squier's willingness to wear a crop-top and writhe around on the floor when his entire fanbase up to that point would likely have been the sorts of people who burned their disco records in baseball stadiums probably played a major role in his downfall, which is a shame given that his terrible music should've been catalyst enough.

the 80s just wasnt ready for nonbinary and genderfluid awareness i guess despite it being the era that blurred the line regarding it..?? very confusing but AOR chuds not appreciating non-masculine vibes in their masculine music unless it was ironic isn't really surprising

This is the first time I've ever wanted to kill a music video for being worthless.

"This was the story of Billy Squire: The first known instance of a man who was killed because he had lousy videos."

Reminds me of a Chris Fleming bit. Yeah, it's a bit cringeworthy that this isn't tongue-in-cheek, but you could say that about numerous 80s videos that were successful, not career-derailing. I'd say the reason the video went over so exceptionally poorly wasn't the silliness, but the lack of conformity with gender/sexuality norms.
