But yeah, I have 100 albums on my chart but that could be any 100 of 1000 plus is any particular order, somedays I'll wanna listen to the Beatles lots, others I'll be obsessed with some other, like right now I'm non stop listening to Sons of Kemet and King Gizzard, are they better than the Beatles right now? Yeah probably, I dunno, who cares, music's good and John O'Shea was the greatest footballer of all time.

Agreed with this sentiment. One major reason I don't like the analogy is because I HAVE seen sports list from ESPN, etc. (maybe not in soccer/football but definitely in basketball/American football) which rank top goals/plays/baskets/touchdowns/etc. that DO limit to one play per person, or one play per game/match.

Also, BEA's overall ranking weights published lists from publications/professional critics. I think the user charts with the "one album per artist" rule affect the overall chart a lot less than you think. Not to mention, while you think it might be better not to have the "one album per artist rule", the overall chart does heavily lean towards certain popular artists (like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, etc.). I would argue that when some users make their charts with the "one album per artist" rule, it helps diversify the overall chart which actually makes it MORE accurate.

And I think Skinny's last sentence is essential: just let people make the charts they want. If BEA didn't do that, then we'd basically just be metacritic (which is fine, no shade on metacritic, but I definitely prefer BEA).

Well there's literally hundreds of thousands of artists out there and at least a thousand of those could have multiple releases make my top 100. Out of all those the white album is not one of them. Very good album though, despite the fact that it reduced musique concrete to a point and laugh spectacle.

Don't really think that metaphor is apt. Sure, if we're ranking top 100 goals multiple player contributions should be included. But to my mind, that's mainly because of the sheer hoarding of international talent in some league. There's like what, maybe 8-12 leagues tops of generational defining talent worth considering + international events. Whereas a great record can come from everywhere. Unless you're a studio production fetishist in which case, eh to each their own. But the sky is not falling.
