Always after my heart Craola

chasing hearts feels a lot like musical chairs. you get a good thing going and then your lifeline gets jerked away from you harder than a terrier on a chain walk.

In terms my enjoyment of them strictly as rappers, it's probably something like this:

Ghostface Killah
Raekwon
Method Man
Ol' Dirty Bastard
Inspectah Deck
GZA
U-God
RZA
Masta Killa

In terms of ranking their solo(ish) discographies:

Ghostface Killah
Raekwon
Ol' Dirty Bastard
RZA
GZA
Method Man
Masta Killa
Inspectah Deck
U-God

In terms of ranking their importance to what I consider the sound of the Wu-Tang Clan:

RZA
Ghostface Killah
Method Man
Ol' Dirty Bastard
Raekwon
Inspectah Deck
U-God
GZA
Masta Killa

I like Masta Killa, too. I just think that there happen to be eight more memorable and largely more talented members of the Wu.

this puts him below either Cappadonna or U-God and either way that is unacceptable

Maybe we should make a topic where we rank the Wu-Tang members. I think there is plenty of room for argument to make an interesting discussion.

Yeah, I've always had a thing for outsiders. To put things into perspective, Ringo is my favorite Beatle. Plus I recently revisited his solo album because it came out in 2004, which is the year I am representing in the hip-hop tourney, maybe that is why he was the first to come to mind. The funny thing is that M could be the strongest letter of the alphabet with possible choices across the whole spectrum of genres such as Mettalica/Megadeth/Miles Davis/My Bloody Valentine/Muse/Madonna/Marvin Gaye etc., just to mention a few obvious choices. Or simply I could have picked Method Man.

I cheated like crazy to fit as many of my top-most selections as possible 😎

A: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
B: Hieronymus Bosch
C: John Coltrane (even though I'd probably rank Charles Mingus' albums slightly above Coltrane's overall, I went with Coltrane when I also consider him as perhaps the greatest jazz soloist plus his contribution to albums other than his own)
D: Dmitri Shostakovich
E: Ernst Ingmar Bergman (aka Ingmar Bergman)
F: Franz Schubert
G: Gustav Mahler
H: Alfred Hitchcock
I: Igor Stravinsky
J: Johannes Brahms
K: Krysztof Penderecki
L: Ludwig van Beethoven
M: Michelangelo Buonarroti
N: Nico
O: Olivier Messiaen
P: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Q: Quentin Tarantino
R: Richard Wagner
S: Johann Sebastian Bach
T: Tim Buckley
U: The Velvet Underground
V: Leonardo Da Vinci
W: Orson Welles
X: Xiu Xiu
Y: Neil Young
Z: Robert Zimmerman (aka Bob Dylan)

Note: Even though great, Quentin Tarantino, Nico and Xiu Xiu (and maybe Neil Young too) are probably the most out of place among such exalted company! Maybe I'm forgetting some superior options for those letters?
