There's another big consideration I have to make, and that's that I want this poll to honestly reflect what the forums of BEA think are the best albums of the decade, and if I make a rule that excludes the top 100 that sort of does away with that idea.

How about this: We do one round of decade polls that show what the members think with albums including the top 100, and then we do another round that disqualifies those top 100 and shows what the left-field choice would be for each respective decade. I think that's fair. After this wraps I'll do the '80s poll, and then return to the '70s without our friends in the top 100, so that it'll still be relatively fresh in everyone's mind.

Great thinking wolf '

I aim to please 😄 I don't think these polls will be worth doing if they're not fun and interesting for everyone and I think this is the best way of making sure that everyone gets what they want out of this thing.

But I'm too annoyed to be amused 🤬

The albums are not unimportant; their rankings are.

😲 That's an extremely insensible thing to say.

Aight, k. Let us go past our top 100.

Like, seriously. Who cares about:

Neil Young - Harvery
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
The Who - Quadrophenia
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
The Killers - Hot Fuss
The National - Boxer
Ramones - Ramones
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Nas - Illmatic
Stooges - Fun House
&
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Lol. That's right. No one.

Yeah, I mean, there were only ever 100 albums ever made that were worth listening to, and they all just so happen to be the top 100 albums on this site. Everyone knows that.

Snark aside, I'll keep the 'hundo in for the '80s poll and then just see where everyone's at when it comes to the other decades.

I'll do the '80s next, but I don't think I'll disallow things from the top 50 or 100, because these forums have a very diverse sampling of opinions as to what the best album of the '80s were. For the '60s, '90s and '00s though I think it would be a great idea to disallow top 100 entries(I'll give you the winners now if I allow the most popular entries: Sgt. Pepper's, OK Computer, Funeral)

OK Computer seems the most obvious choice for the 1990s, but I don't agree with others. Sgt Pepper? What about Revolver, Abbey Road, VU & Nico, Pet Sounds, ... I think that the 60s are the decade where this poll would be most interesting, so I really wouldn't disable the top 100 entries. I mean I wouldn't do that in any of the polls, but especially not here.

As for the 2000s - Kid A seems as a more popular choice to me.

Without the top 100 in future polls, what will they be entitled-The Best Albums That Also Played in the Decade?

I'm still stunned that Unknown Pleasures has 3 votes yet NOBODY other than me voted for a better album.
