Both really cool punky tunes. Narrator is more interesting and gets my vote, but I'm really glad these two songs are going against each other, fun matchup.

Squid - Narrator
This is one of the best tracks of the first half of 2021, according to most critics.

Wet Leg - Chaise Longue
This song is in the top 20 or so of the combined charts in 2021.

Both tracks are about equal for me in terms of their musical peaks.
But I didn't even have to search for a translation of the lyrics to make my choice.
Because the video Chaise Longue is very organic and just another level.

Yeah in the end I'm going with the lost 2006 Flying Lizards track. It's at least snappy and fun and has that MySpace era British cheekiness that I still find charming, no it's not original in the slightest but I don't really care about that anymore. But... Is this really what people are going apeshit for now? Are we going to start having a revivalism OF revivalist sounds? I guess Hope we don't see any Editors wannabes soon.

Yeah, I like both. Chaise Long is more my thing and it’s still funny after a few listens.

Serious Pavement vibes from Narrator, which is good with me. I guess I generally prefer catchier stuff though.

Funny how I was saying this the other day - that's a comment from the first round matchup, I had no idea fate would pit them against each other right after - and now this happens.
But still, wow, that's a match made in heaven, these are by far the two coolest songs of the tournament, too bad it's only the second round, it would have made a fantastic final.
I'll give it to Narrator, because it's much better than the 3 votes it's gotten so far suggest, but it goes without saying that both would be deserving winners.

Aargh! My two favourite songs in the tourney (apart from my own noms) matched against each other. Narrator was a top 5 song of the year for me and gets my vote, but Chaise Longue also plaved high in my best songs of the year playlist, so whoever goes through I'll be happy.

Narrator I’ve heard way more times and it’s kind of remained just a pretty good song. The musicianship at times is truly great.

That said Wet Leg song here has grown on me. If you’d asked me last week, easy vote for Narrator. But fuck that catchy guitar melody, those vocals, all of Chaise Longue really is just very very charming and cool. And so yeah…

Wet Leg gets my vote!

I voted for Narrator the last time but the fact remains that Squid is not really my thing. This while I listened to the album Wet Leg released just a few days ago and where this song is featured and I liked it. So Chaise Longue is my choice.
