the one thats always bothered me is Franz Ferdinand. I thought I loved them but when I actually listen to them... i can't even do it. I still have them on some of my year charts because i feel like they should be there even though i don't really like them.

also Iron and Wine. people continually recommend it to me, but I just don't get the draw. Its fine music, but its never really clicked i guess

Actually, GARY, I often find the Who to be too "tame and soft", as well. Even in a masterpiece like Quadrophenia, I keep imagining how much better if would be if it was a bit heavier.

Also, if you reread my post, Coldplay and Hootie and the Blowfish are really the only bands I mention that I hate. The other bands I mention are ones I like, but don't necessarily love. Also, I was being positive about Neutral Milk Hotel. The other Elephant 6 bands always seemed too hung up on the 6o's thing to me. Oh! I did mention not liking Joy Division though. I'm sure that annoys a few people around here.

I just mean that i find that The Who are held in high regard, usually mentioned alongside bands like the Stones & Led Zep, and are one of Pearl Jam's biggest influences, so i expected more from them, but after listening to Who's Next and a Greatest Hits album they didn't quite meet my expectations....although i will at some time listen to Live at Leeds as i've read repeatedly that it's considered one of the best live albums of all time. I guess the other thing is that i've grown up will R.E.M.'s music and have always enjoyed them-so thats more of a nostalgia thing for me...

I understand what you are saying now.

Well, maybe you will enjoy Live At Leeds.

IMO The Who were every bit as good as the Rolling Stones and I have Who's Next at #5 on my chart.
