but the 1# in the USA is Abbey Road (Uk)

Sure, but ask 100 Americans and 72 think The Beatles are from the US.

Also interesting to see that all countries have English speaking albums as number #1, except (of course) Brazil and (very obviously indeed) France, who prefer something from their own culture.

Why "very obviously indeed" ?

How on earth were the top albums decided?

there's a tool in RYM that allows you to do that in the charts page.

I guess what the results reflect/mean?

it means that "Wish You Were Here" should've been in your chart

and yet "Histoire De Melody Nelson" is nowhere to be seen on yours :P

haha. No risk that one day it will be in either 😐

i was curious to see if Revolver the new king of RYM's top chart (rateyourmusic) was unanimously the most preferred album every where, well obviously no:

the countries listed are those with at list more than 100 vote for at least 1 album.

USA : The Beatles - Abbey Road
UK : The Beatles - Revolver
France: Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire De Melody Nelson
Italy: Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Spain: David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
Brazil: Chico Buarque - Construção
Mexico: Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
Germany: Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Argentina: The Beatles - Abbey Road
Poland: King Crimson -In the Court of the Crimson King
Canada: The Beatles - Abbey Road
Australia: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Netherlands: The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Belgium: The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Greece: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Portugal: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Sweden: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Finland: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Norway: The Beatles - Abbey Road

Strange to see Revolver only in the UK, which means that Revolver is a consensus album around the planet (well, the western world).
