what can you say?

AAl2014, your observations are correct. this houses of the holy album is so amazing. i dont find crunge and dyer maker weak. i find that these 2 songs
join in on this masterpiece of work.

Madhattanjack nails it. i concur with everything he states as well.

just want to say , when i listen to LZ 4, it sounds so alive and fresh. stairway to heaven is 8 min: of rock heaven. plants vocals and pages ionic guitar, bonham and jones are in top form also. when the levee breaks-- an acoustic country melody with harmonica, echoing, phasing , dense sound that only zepplin can make it sound so incredible, the rest of the album with misty mtn hop, and black dog, and rock & roll... etc
also, Kashmir is the definitve zepplin rock song. when plant gives a 15 second tarzan howl, it adds an extra layer of intensity to their music.

I agree with you, actually. It's probably the main reason why HotH is my favorite Zep album...

There's also the first three tracks on Side 2 of Led Zep III, and In the Light/Bron-Yr-Aur/Down By the Seaside on Physical Graffiti, and maybe all of Side 2 of ZoSo, but I'd probably still rate the first three tracks on HotH at the top.

In my listening today, I returned to and reevaluated Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy for the first time in way too long.

The two main things I took away from this listen was, one, yeah the Crunge and D’yer Maker are indeed the weak tracks by a distance that’s difficult to describe properly. The other being that the first three tracks on the record make for some of the band’s best music and that those songs falling the way they do is a marvelous example of sequencing, possibly the best 15 straight minutes of music in their catalog.

What would be your choice for Zeppelin’s best (give or take) 15 minute stretch of music?
