well, basically. Let's say your chart composition tells you that you have 5 albums by the Beatles, 4 by Radiohead and 3 by The Police. At the moment, you don't know which albums they are. The new change will let you click on The Police (for example) and tell you the albums that are in this chart from The Police are Synchronicity, Ghost in the Machine and Reggatta de Blanc.

the user chooses, using either the default sort preference from their user profile, or sorting by rank on each individual chart.

so does this mean that each user views the chart how they choose in their profile or does the chartmaker have the choice or both? (sorry I'm really slow 😨 )

The "flip-a-chart" thingy has been implemented now, and while I love it, could it still be possible to have some sort of a button on a chart that would do this? Right now you can only edit the default settings in the profile

edit: actually nevermind I see that you can do it with the little arrow button (they're a bit difficult to notice though or is it just me 🤔 .. )

yes, I'll try and add that at the same time if it isn't too much extra work; otherwise, I'll defer that until a later date.

To be honest, though, I'm not sure how useful it would be to sort by artist. There is another change pending already which will allow you to drill down into any element of the chart composition which will achieve the same thing, and be far more useful.

both.

If your default preference is to view all charts 1->100, you can still override that on any chart and sort 100->1.

I've been stuck thinking whether to make it a setting on the chart (decided by the creator), or a user preference, but I think it's probably better as a user preference, so each person can choose how they want to view their charts (ascending or descending), otherwise the site will be inconsistent as some charts will be ascending and others descending.

I think we could also allow people to sort each chart as well, so that a user's default preference can can be overridden (the 'flip chart' feature, or whatever it was called earlier).

awesome! Great idea Jhereko. People will be looking at my chart getting more and more concerned. Franticly asking 'where is Loveless?' l. As they approach the top 20 the shakes will set in like they are some junkie who is desperate for a fix. at the 10 most people will crack and spend there days listening to coldplay in a lunatic asylum. If they make it to number 2 permant brain damage is all but a certianty. And as for that one lucky individual who manages to make it all the way through, they will find out what they already know. That Loveless is the best album ever.
