The original from 1975 is one of the songs that made Aerosmith famous. It was the band's first top 40 hit, and it remains a staple of classic rock radio. For a moment in the mid 70's, they were one of the best hard rock bands anywhere.

There are no maracas on the intro...the sound is Tyler shaking a packet of sugar.

Dazed And Confused (Motion Picture Soundtrack) (1993) by Various Artists

Although the track doesn’t appear on the soundtrack it’s a key song in the film

This is one which I recently posted on the Sticky Fingers thread which also fits here (and the Marianne Faithfull track deserves some love) so........ here you are

Sister Morphine

I hadn’t realised that Marianne Faithfull released this track prior to the Stones putting this on Sticky Fingers. I love her version, which includes contribution from Mick, Ry Cooder, Jack Nitzsche and Charlie. What a line-up so I’ve included it here as well as the Stones version.

The Stones' version, with slightly different lyrics, featured Mick on vocals, Keith on acoustic guitar, Ry Cooder on slide guitar and Jack Nitzsche on piano, Bill Wyman on bass, and Watts again on drums. What a line-up again

Definitely one of the Stones greatest tracks. Sleazy and brilliant

I love both versions and comparing is a pretty pointless exercise I suppose but if I could only listen to one version for the rest of my life it would be the Disturbed version. So powerful and what a voice

If push came to shove, I'd go for the Willie version. Other versions? Apart from Brenda Lee's original, the only other version that I can think of was The Pet Shop Boys (which i won't post here as I never liked it)

I wish that we could hear the rest of the performance. Even with the legendary David Foster's lack of knowledge where the song is concerned, John Foster (no relation there) is who makes the performance as beautiful as it is. 😄 😄 😄

The Rolling Stones covered this Marvin Gaye hit in 1965. It was included on both the US and UK versions of Out Of Our Heads. It's their third album, on which there are several cover songs. It was not a hit, and was not released as a single.

The original was much more interesting. It was Gaye's first top 40 hit in 1963 (the single came out in late 1962). Gaye plays drums on the track, and is backed up vocally by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. It started the brief Hitch Hike dance craze.

When they recorded the Tempations version, an eleven minute backing track was recorded but they released a four minute version as a single.

A year later, The Undisputed Truth took that backing tarck and recorded this incredible version of the song.

'Both are great. Hard to decide which is best but I've always been a sucker for an extended track so I'll go with the TUD

I did youtube - link - youtube and got this

Yes. I don't know how you did it, but you have:

"[/youtube] video link [/youtube]"

and

"[youtube] video link [youtube]"

For it to work "[youtube]" has to be first, then the video link, and then "[/youtube]"

You have 2 youtubes with the slash and 2 without the slash. It should be youtube without the slash, then the link and then youtube with the slash. I don't know why it works this way, but I've noticed that's how it is. If I put "[youtube]" at the end, without the slash, it will not post. I hope this helps.

Thanks TLS. That's really helpful. Thought that I'd leave my "mistake" for someone who knows what they are doing to take a look at and tell me where it went wrong. No idea why it's doing multiple youtubes. I'm sure that i only click once.

Gonna give it another go tomorrow as I have some cracking (IMO) side by sides to share. Thanks again for your help
