I'd have to agree - when it involves posting the music you listen to and love, that's more like "saturation bombing." Wikipedia says it's the same thing, but you can't believe anything you read over there.

Frankly I think just about everyone is in agreement that the fact you're posting about Christian/Gospel is not a problem. And in fact, if that were solely kept to a genre-specific thread (like, say,the Christian/Gospel Music thread), that would be fine.

I think the issue people likely have is 1. carpet-bombing the entire forum with one genre of music (which, admittedly is partly on the users of BEA's fault for not being as active on the forums) and 2. a lack of discussion about/feeling of judgment regarding other genres of music.

What you're posting isn't a problem, how you're posting it is

I don't consider it carpet bombing, it's just posting the music that I listen to and love. And, I do post some secular music here too, on the country thread, the covers thread, and sometimes on the first 30 songs that come up thread, etc. I also started a crooners thread too, which so far is all secular music. Besides, I shouldn't have to keep the music I love on only one thread. It qualifies as music as much as any other genre does and this is a music site.

I'm talking about the music I see posted here on the forum, not how many releases of each genre are on the site.

There doesn't have to be a thread dedicated to it. There's still a lot of it on the site. More of it here than Christian music. Satanism is a religion, yet I haven't seen anyone complaining about people posting that here, just my Christian / Gospel music, nor have I seen anyone asking them to post the music they like on the political thread. Or, for that matter, as I said, I haven't seen anyone here being asked to post Rage Against the Machine videos to the political thread (or any of the other political music such as Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie etc.). I haven't seen anyone here but me asked to post the music they like to the political thread. It's quite a double standard.

Well, I must have missed it. I certainly didn't see anyone here posting Christian / Gospel videos until I started posting them, but I have seen satanic music posted here. That's a religion. I didn't see anyone making a big deal about it being posted here either.

I mean, that's just fundamentally not true because I myself have input many different CCM albums onto this site over the years (and I believe I even had a CCM chart at one point, though I don't think it's around anymore).

Sure, it's not especially represented on this site as other genres, but Gospel/CCM is quite a niche genre and frankly not one that's frequented by the people who frequent this site (or at the very least, it's not the only genre they listen to and therefore is spread out among various other genres that get discussed). There's also a lot of connotation that comes along with the genre given 1. the very personal association it has with a very personal thing (religion) and 2. the personal baggage many people have associated with religion whether from trauma associated with growing up in a religious environment or something else.

Other genres don't have that, which tends to lead to Gospel/CCM being discussed less. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of love for the genre (I'm a worship leader at my church after all), but it's understandable give the breadth of different genres discussed at this site plus the things that specifically come along with the religious music genre that it wouldn't have as much representation here as other genres might

@tigercap I wonder why Christian / Gospel music was totally ignored on this site until I started posting it in the first place. This is a music site and Christian / Gospel music IS MUSIC. It's like it didn't even exist or wasn't a genre until I started posting some of my favorites here.

I'm not sure I want to listen to that. Is it full of obscenities and profanities or other content I would likely find offensive? It doesn't look like it's for me.
