I liked Arrows & Anchors, but it was no Mayfly. My reaction was more or less mixed, but it does have a couple standout tracks I really liked, like Rikki Tikki Tavi

😲 My jaw just dropped with such a velocity, that it detached itself from my face. You listened to (and liked) Dark Passion Play 😲 😲 😲

And yeah, it's pretty long (It's actually a film score). Although I'm cool with long albums, so it's not really a bother to me.
And now I'm listening to another 2011 album (The Harvest Wombs) and tomorrow I plan on listening to Gloss Drop by Battles. Look at me go 😁 a 2011 fiend!

Perhaps we do have enough metalheads to do a Best Metal Album of the Year award...

Also, Nech, did you listen to Mirrored perchance? I'm guessing you did, but in case you DIDN'T and Gloss Drop piques your interest, Mirrored > Gloss Drop.

I have listened to Mirrored. And I enjoyed it quite a bit. I have only listened to Gloss Drop once, but jeez. I liked it better than Mirrored (so far). I thought it was exceptional!

Also, I would be STOKED if we did a Best Metal Album award.

P.S. Jack, have you heard Fair to Midland's 2011 album (Arrows and Anchors)? I know how much you like Fables from a Mayfly...

Yeah, I'll still participate. And I guess I've still heard parts of albums and decided that I don't want to listen to its entirety. But who cares.

Also, I could help you out if ya want. My exams are over on thursday, and I plan on getting my lazy on. But I can still squeeze in helping with this into my busy schedule of nothingness.

Okay I'll admit that comment was a dick move on my part 🫢 I just feel it's sad since there's like thousands of albums released every year and 85% of them barely get heard and if people are listening to less than 10 albums a year what's the point? and also earlier in the year people were saying that 2011 was a shitty year for music (and I'm not saying it's great) but how many albums had those people listened to before making a judgement call like that?

anyway it's probably my issue to deal with rather than everyone else's.

Will you be voting in the poll anyway?

I know for me personally, I haven't listened to as many albums as most of the people on this site. I probably couldn't make adequate lists on other years either. I just listen to music for the sake of listening to it. It's not like I'm alienating 2011 albums and not listening to them on purpose. (Anti-2011 Club for life!). I don't really listen to music based on when it was released. Call me crazy I guess. 2011 has been a year where I have just been discovering great albums that I haven't heard before.

But I guess that means I'm not passionate 😢
