Cool! I think the music stands on its own, but the politics are certainly interesting too. They definitely were one of the more political bands, I believe, at that time.

I did! Wanted to get your take first. I personally love it. Especially that first side. Currently I think side 1 is essential Psychedelic Music. On the fence about side 2. I wouldn't put it on the same level as The Doors or Love either, but it's just the next rung down. It would be one of my favorite releases if it was released this year for sure. BUT, I've had this in my collection now for decades. lol. So I'm quite biased. Would easily make my TOP FIVE psychedelic albums of 1967 😎 >

edit: Just looked at RYM's Top Psychedelic albums of 1967, and, my apologies, that year is STACKED! I'm very curious now where I would place our heroes, Country Joe and Fish!

Thanks for feeding back repo. I think that repeat listens will move this album up my rankings. I can definitely see why people will consider it a classic especially for 1967. Going to listen a few more times before my group meets.

I’ve only just joined that group so this is my first album. Will need to see if it’s a worthwhile thing to pursue but from my contact with the group so far, through Padlet, they seem like a decent and knowledgeable bunch so looking forward to my first meet up.

Thanks for responding Repo and for the link to the Beach Boys page. Hasn't spotted that thread and will definitely take part.

Anything to get more discussion going around all aspects of music has to be a good thing. My gut feeling, and it might just be nostalgia kicking in, is that there was more discussion when I first joined (14 years ago, crikey).

Would we interested in your thoughts on the album once you have revisited it

I've recently joined a 60's album appreciation group and their next topic is

Electric Music For The Mind And Body by Country Joe And The Fish

and I wanted to get other peoples views on this album. Not one that I'm familiar with and going to give it several listens before the group meet but just wondered what other peoples perspective is on the album.

I'll obviously go to the session with my own views but what other people think is always interesting and I'm also trying to get more conversations going about music on the site and this felt like an opportunity not to be missed
