Like I said, if Seattle brought their A game, they would win. And boy, they brought their A game. Offense, defense, and even special teams...they were clicking. Credit to New England's defense for holding them to field goals for 3 quarters, giving their team a sliver of hope. But man, the Pats just could not get anything going on offense. They went something like 20 minutes of game time without a single first down. The Patriots defense was good. The Seahawks defense was total domination.

I watched the game with a local friend, who's a Rams fan. Towards the end, we were talking and concluded the Rams were really the second-best team in the NFL this year. They were the only team who beat the Seahawks in the last four months, and the only the team who gave them a close game in the playoffs.

But anyway, 2025 was a weird year for the NFL. The end of Tomlin in Pittsburgh, Harbaugh in Baltimore, McDermott in Buffalo, the Chiefs stunk. It will feel like the start a new era next year. However, that new era may have already begun. Amidst the changes, the Seahawks quietly put together one the greatest seasons in NFL history. If they can follow this up, 2025 may be the start of the Seahawks Era. Or perhaps KC, Philly, SF, LA, Buffalo(?), or Cincy will bounce back. We'll find out next season.

And yeah, pretty wild that Sam Darnold became the first QB of the 2018 draft class to win a championship. Weren't Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, and Josh Allen drafted that year? Spoler alert...Yes

Just watched the halftime—
Fantastic performance from Bad Bunny—
Great atmosphere, ace production, and he stuck a poignant landing—
Only minor gripe is that I wish he kept DtMF up for another 15-20 seconds to close, but otherwise—

(& I kinda wish they went full-on with Gasolina in the middle, would've been a great interjection)

Honestly, and this just shows the state of our country considering what a diehard Patriots fan I am, the Halftime show was ALL THAT MATTERED in this year's Super Bowl.

Who had South Park & the NFL as two key pieces of the resistance on their Bingo Card! The NFL has bigger cojones than Harvard!!! (And FAR bigger than Columbia!!! 🤣 )

Great points and well said. I'm biased as hell, BUT even I think the Seahawks are more likely to win. Their defense just seems soooo freakin' FAST!!! And they all play as one like a coordinated chaos of destruction. And Maye just doesn't have the experience just yet as these playoffs have already shown. He's struggled a bit. This will come down to us being able to spook Darnold. Vrabel will have to pull out all his tricks and make Darnold second guess himself. He doesn't have to "see ghosts" per say, but we'll need to get him out of his comfort zone. And Drake Maye needs to make TWO special throws. Sort of what Eli Manning would do to US in those Super Bowl of yore.

Pats by 2 with Darnold throwing a key interception or a strip sack AND Maye throwing one amazing toss FOR THE AGES to either Boutte or Diggs.

The Denver Broncos, like your Patriots, have existed since 1960. They have 16 HOF members.
7 of those (Willie Brown, Tony Dorsett, DeMarcus Ware, Ty Law, Brian Dawkins, John Lynch & Peyton Manning) play most of their careers and earned HOF honors with other teams.
1 of those (Pat Bowlen) was an owner and never played.

That leaves just 8 in 65 years.

Despite having played in 6 Super Bowls at the time, the Broncos did not have their first real HOF'er until 2004 (Elway). The next one wasn't until 2008 (Gary Zimmerman). 2010 was their first and only pre-SB player (Floyd Little). Shannon Sharpe came in 2011. They have had just 4 in the past decade, despite having played in 2 more SB's. And not one head coach. Including Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan.

The Patriots have even fewer in the Hall...but their period of greatness is much more recent. It's pretty easy to note that the HOF will become crowded with Patriots, and soon. Including Belichick and Kraft. There have been only 3 coaches who got in first year (Landry, Shula and Noll), and not one owner.

Patience. You'll get a LOT of HOF'ers in the next ten years.

And it will NEVER be as bad as that rock and roll hall. 😎

We all got this one right, but it was a no-brainer. The Patriots actually won this game last week, am I right? Not so. Broncos still had their chances here. Backup QB Stidham made some plays. They had the momentum in the early going, taking a 7-0 lead. Sean Payton going for it on 4th instead of kicking for 3 to go up 10-0 stopped their momentum (turned out they'd never score again). Then the fumble late in the first half swung the momentum the other way. Nevertheless, the Broncos defense did a great job. Kept them in the game. The Broncos had one last chance to tie it late in the 4th quarter, but that blocked FG by NE sealed it. It still would have been close, but I think Denver would have won if Bo Nix was playing. They may be the AFC favorites next season.

We all got this one too.The Seahawks weren't so dominant this time, then again they were playing a much better opponent. Credit to the Rams for playing so hard, fighting to the finish. McVay and Stafford might be the best current coach-QB duo, and as long as they stick around, plus Nacua, their offense will light up scoreboards.

As for New England and Seattle, their SB matchup is both exciting and boring. Boring because casual fans want to see new teams in the SB. Both these teams won SBs in recent memory. On the other hand, casual fans also want to see new faces. The rosters and coaching staffs of these franchises are entirely different from their championship teams of last decade. So what can we say? Credit to these teams for quickly rebuilding.

I'll post a prediction later, but I need to head off for work and errands. Got two weeks before this game so plenty of time. Think I'll get on the next Ozzy and/or Beach Boys album in the meantime.

I guess I missed predicting last round, I think I would've gotten most close to right except the Bears, I was expecting more out of them (and less out of the Rams).

At the start of the playoffs, I would've guessed an Eagles vs Broncos super bowl.

With Bo Nix out, I don't think Denver has it in them to beat the dominant Pats. I'll be rooting for the Broncos though. My prediction is Patriots 20 - Broncos 16

The Seahawks looked good against the 49ers, I think they'll look just as good against the Rams. My predictions is Seahawks 26 - Rams 24.

Interesting that 3/4 possible Super Bowl matchup is a repeat from the last 12 years (not Broncos vs Rams). If it ends up being Pats vs Rams, they'd even have the same head coaches. Can't say I'm super excited for the rest of the playoffs but I guess I'll be rooting for the Broncos and Seahawks. And Bad Bunny when he's up.

BUT, we learned last week by watching the Texans @ Pats game that the Broncos STILL have a chance for TWO reasons. First & most important, even a back-up quarterback like Jarrett Stidham probably will NOT play as bad as CJ Stroud over these past two weeks. 🤦‍♂️ That poor boy is gonna need therapy! Second, our O-Line (especially our young left side) showed that we have a hard time against a good, well coached defense, and Denver has that in spades!

Do i still think we're going to win? YES! OF COURSE I DO!!! 😈 I just think Denver has more of a chance than I would have thought if I'd heard this news two weeks ago.

Totally. By the eye test, the Seahawks look unbeatable rn. BUT, they are divisional opponents, and divisional games can get pretty wonky especially if you have a good coach, which Sean McVay is. PLUS, they easily have the better quarterback, even though I'll be routing for Sam Darnold. Why? That's a better story! How cool will it be if Sam Darnold goes to the Superbowl one year after essentially getting fired by the Vikings! Minnessota's got it rough rn!!! �... ( We can either laugh or cry with what's going on. I CHOOSE to laugh since it gives me more strength!)

An exciting game that ended in tragedy for both teams. The Bills were the better team by the stats. Significantly better in total offense and time of possession. However I predicted the game would come down to which team "makes a costly mistake late in the game." Well, it wasn't late in the game, but it was the end of the second quarter that proved to be that costly mistake. Broncos score a TD with 17 seconds left before halftime. Bills get the ball back and have 0 timeouts. Just take a knee and go to the locker room, right? Wrong. Sean McDermott decided to run plays. They fumble, Denver recovers and scores another 3 points before halftime. What the hell? So stupid. I was at work following updates from my phone. When I read that, I was like "Oof, that's gonna come back to bite them." And sure, enough...it did. The Bills gifted the Broncos 3 points, and the final margin of the game was 3 points. Unbelievable. Every year it seems, Buffalo gets knocked out of the playoffs in a close game, that they could have (arguably should have) won, but their own mistakes are the reasons they lose. I like Sean McDermott, but at this point, I completely understand why he was fired after this game. As for the Broncos, they proved their greatness, but lost their leader, in the most tragic asinine way. QB Bo Nix breaks his ankle on the second-to-last play of the game, a casual run play, designed only to gain a few yards to get a little bit closer for a game-winning field goal in overtime. The kicker made the field goal, Broncos win. Now what? Would have been better had the kicker missed, and Bills won. At least that way, we'd have two healthy in the AFC Championship game.

Repo was right about CJ Stroud. Either he wasn't cut out for this game, or he just wasn't ready yet. I predicted defenses would keep this low-scoring. Turned out the defenses were so great, it wound up a little higher-scoring. The defenses forced 8 turnovers combined. Wow. This led to short fields and easy points for both teams. The differences were NE was scoring TDs while Houston was kicking fields, plus Houston turned the ball over 5 times to the Patriots' 3.

The Division Round is my favorite round, only the great teams are left, and there's still a full weekend slate. I'm missing it all this year due to work Sat & Sun. 😠 (if the Eagles had won, I'd've taken a day off) Anyway:

NFC

SF 49ers 10
SEA Seahawks 27

I said earlier the Seahawks came out of nowhere this year. Not true. I overlooked they went 10-7 last year even though they missed the playoffs. I guess they were only one more 'building' season away from greatness. And they are great this year. Top 10 in offense and defense. The only weakness I see is their mediocrity in the turnover battle. Might be an issue later, but I think they'll handle the 49ers convincingly. SF couldn't get anything going on offense against the Seahawks Week 18 when they had George Kittle. And now they don't. This is the only game of the weekend I'm pretty confident who will win.

LA Rams 27
CHI Bears 23

This is a difficult game to predict, as both teams were uneven in their wins last week. The Rams were much better than the Panthers, but as EKF correctly pointed out, they were inconsistent. A handful of small mistakes added up and kept the game close, requiring a last-minute win for the Rams. That won't work against better teams. On the other hand, the Bears were totally beaten in the first half last week, came alive in the 4th quarter, stormed back to take a lead...and still only won because the Packers' kicker stunk. That won't work against better teams. Pound-for-pound, I think the Rams are a little better, so I'll go with them, but this can go either way. The team who plays cleaner will win this one.

AFC

BUF Bills 24
DEN Broncos 23

This one should be fun and highly competitive. Both teams rank Top 10 in offense and defense. I really don't know who will win. Buffalo is more experienced in the playoffs, but they are notorious for choking in the later rounds. Denver doesn't have the experience of a game like this, so who knows how they will fare? I think it'll come down to nerves, and which team makes a costly mistake late in the game.

HOU Texans 16
NE Patriots 19

This has the makings of a low-scoring game. Two great defenses, who only allowed 3 points against their wild card round opponents (one PIT FG was a chip-shot set up by a turnover). If this was played in Houston and the Texans had Nico Collins healthy this week, I'd go with the Texans. Furthermore, New England has just looked sharp all season, while Houston has had a couple off-weeks. That doesn't mean the Texans can't win this. If they bring their A game and play defense like they did last week, they can pull this off.

My Picks (& thoughts) for the Divisional Round

AFC

Bills @ Broncos

Betting on Josh for this one. And why wouldn't I. He's proved it again & again. Most recently just like week against the superior Jaguars. And I think the Jaguars are a more balanced team than the Broncos. We are going to learn A LOT about Bo Nix in this one. He does not feel like a Super Bowl winning quarterback just yet but he has flashes. Josh does. A lot of this is going to hinge on the Bills getting their run game going a bit better than last week. I think they will. Their O-Line seems quite inspired rn. And James Cook has been awesome this year.

Bills by 2 with Josh being Josh in the 4th quarter.

Texans @ Pats

Again, I'm sooooo biased on this one. "We" just seem more balanced than the Texans. And I just don't trust CJ Stroud to win his team to a game after last week's game against Pittsburgh. And in the playoffs and today's NFL, your quarterback need to win you games. Plus, Drake Maye is so NOT Aaron Rodgers. In more ways than just age. Alhamdulillah! �...

49ers @ Seahawks

49ers just do NOT have the firepower against the Seahawks. This was proven true just a couple of week ago. And now they're down a Kittle. Tight Ends are so important.

Plus, how can you not route for Sam Darnold at this point. It's a fricken' Hollywood script.

Rams @ Bears

I'd LOVE to see the Bears magical & miraculous run continue, but the Rams underperformed last week and (as usual) the Bears overperformed in the 4th quarter.

Beating the Packers in the Playoffs last week was the Bears Superbowl. The City of Chicago needed that. It's been a shit year for Chicago. We (The city, not the team) needed a great story, and we got it. But how many time can you roll a 20 on a d20?!?! More importantly, Chicago finally scored on a quarterback and a coach. They'll be back even better next year. (Did I just call Chicago my city?! Yuck! I've been here tooo long. Somebody rescue me already! 🤣 )
