More hypnotic trip hop from Massive Attack, this time with vocals from Everything But The Girl's Tracey Thorn.

Could be higher easily, this a very much slept on album in the Massive Attack catalogue.

The title track and second single, following up on Sly, though I slightly prefer this.

You're always getting something good here.

Sting - This Cowboy Song (Remix) (feat. Pato Banton)

Weird one this, originally released as a single purely on a 1994 Sting compilation, Pato Banton came along and essentially made a whole new song.

It's weirdly catchy though, nothing mindblowing, but a nice blend of Sting's soft rock, combined with Banton's Jamaican stylings.

An odd remix.

I've a soft spot for the Human League, not their biggest hit and not one that gets too much playtime these days,

The Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo!

The biggest hit by far by the Boo Radleys, it's a fun Britpop/indie alt pop number, that doesn't always fully catch me, but I can still get behind it.

This is the title track from their 4th album, having originally been together from the late 80's into the 90's, but they never had success like this again.

It's catchy, maybe just a bit oversaturating for me personally, but that only knocks it down from the top 200 to just outside.

They've since reunited in recent years and put out a few new albums.

Speaking of tracks probably more at home in the 80's, here's this one, the lead single off Simple Minds' 10th album, Good News From The Next World.

Not their best hit, but it's still got a good kick to as a pop rock/arena rock style anthem and their a band I generally like.

Not one you'll here too much these days, but a decent time.

Scarlet - Independent Love Song

A moderately successful one hit wonder, from Scarlet, a shortlived power pop trio (then duo), from Hull.

They put out 2 albums between 92-96 and this was the biggest hit they had.

It's a bit on the nose at times and not doing a whole lot for me, probably would have been more at home in the 80's also, but definitely one forgotten in time.

He also released an album based on this.

I'm not getting anything here really, his 3rd in the series and probably the most forgettable, not holding up.

Mike & the Mechanics - Over My Shoulder

A song I've a real soft spot for to be honest, and up there with some of Genesis' more poppier hits for me.

Mike, of course, being Mike Rutherford of Genesis, got the likes of Paul Carrack (formerly of Squeeze) and Paul Young on board, and it led to this 80's styled pop rock that still felt at home in the 90's.

Off their 4th album, Carrack took the vocals on this one having wrote it with Rutherford.

A real soft spot here and always have had one, into the top 100 it goes.

Pretty much synonymous with Christmas at this point, this was the 3rd single off East 17's second album.

It's definitely the best and biggest thing they've out, a real feel good Christmas ballad, I'm a big fan of this.

Boyzone - Love Me For A Reason

Me and my wife just love this song, I know Boyzone aren't great, and only 2/5 of the group could properly sing, and they were manufactured as hell by Louis Walsh (and there's a whole awful side to that too).

But I just love this song, an cover of one by the Osmonds from back in 1974, it ended up being Boyzone's second single off their debut album.

I dunno, I think it's just one of the best pop songs of the 90's and it means a lot to us.

A real throwback, clearly styled like an old Motown track from the 60/70's.

Very different from her usual style of more pop based R&B, but it's pretty easy on the ears and I generally like her stuff.

And we've hit a New Year (April 1995), only 31 years to go...

NOW 30 kicks off with Freak Power, another one of Fatboy Slim's sideprojects, before Fatboy Slim was to come.

I don't mind this, but I feel like it's lacking to kick off the album, very much 90's though, acid jazz in some styles and you could see his style moving more towards what he would become most famous for.

They put out 2 albums, with some moderate success, but we haven't seen them since the 90's.

Sparks - When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way' (Radio Edit)

Sparks make their bow here, a bit of a group who transcend several genres at some stage or another, though usually in the vein of dance pop/art rock/new wavey?

I like them, but there's so much to digest there that it's easy to get lost and miss some of it, hence, I've not heard this or it's album (their 16th) previously.

It's a bit of fun, Eurobeaty, and did well around Europe overall as a result, not quite synthy, but there's some 80's stylings in there.

Erasure - I Love Saturday

A quietly excellent song from Erasure, very much 80's in tone but there's an excellent poppiness to it that has me tapping along.

This was the final single off Erasure's 6th album, I Say I Say I Say, and is easily one of my favourites of theirs.

Holds up surprisingly well and the style of synthpop I very much enjoy.
