Cast - Alright

Not to be mixed up with the Supergrass classic, Cast had their own Alright, off their debut album in 1995.

Frontman John Power came from the ruins of the La's, and you can see that in Cast to an extent, not fully Britpop, but more Britpop adjacent, maybe they just came along a few years too late to get the same hype as others.

Still, a good track for sure from a band I don't mind at all, and are still going strong.

Pulp - Sorted For E's & Wizz

I already went on a rant about how much I love Pulp and Different Class somewhat back when Common People came up.

This is every bit as good and probably tied with it as my favourite Pulp song.

This was part of a double A-side with Mis-Shapes which made up the follow up single to Common People.

Surprised it made it on here given the nature of it lyrically, but a brilliant song I adore, 2 very good choices today.

By the logic it's as good as Common People it's got to crack the top 10.

Radiohead - Lucky (Warchild)

One we all know I would imagine as this would go on to feature on one of BEA's top albums, OK Computer.

The Warchild here is a result of it's initial release, feature on a charity album, The Help Album, put together by the charity War Child.

Not my favourite on OK Computer, but that's an extremely high bar and I'm surprised this featured here, Radiohead's second after Creep.

Excellent.

Sacred Spirit - Wishes Of Happiness & Prosperity (Yeha-Noha)

I thought the world music trend of the early 90's had passed at this point but this would appear to contradict that.

I do like stuff like this, even if it hasn't aged massively well.

Sacred Spirit are German of course, and had most of their success off their debut album, Chants & Dances Of The Native Americans, this song in particular being Navajoe, and gave them a bit of time in the limelight.

A fascinating one, and they donate so much of every sale made to Native American charities, so intriguing.

U2 recorded this for the Batman Forever soundtrack, certainly not their finest work, like it's not bad, but Bono was definitely starting to show signs of going Bono at this stage (and I say this as an Irishman who gives U2 and their newer stuff quite a lot of leeway compared to others I know).

There's still aspects of it I like, but I feel like it could have done more, despite being still pretty solid, U2 being in their Zooropa phase here which can go very different ways for a lot of people.

Man, the 90's were mad.

Fairground is one that does the rounds a bit, but one where I regularly forget the name, it's a good blue-eyed soul song in Hucknall and Simply Red's traditional style.

I like it for sure, the lead single off their 5th album, Life, and their biggest hit of the 90's and possibly their last serious big hit, peaking at number 1 in several countries.

I definitely have a soft spot for them.

It's very much Meat Loaf alright, similar to a lot of his earlier work, with Patti Russo joining on vocals this time.

Not sure it holds up as strong as some of his earlier hits, but the vibes are still there.

This was the lead single off his 7th album, Welcome to the Neighbourhood, the 1995 follow up to Bat Out of Hell II.

Decent enough, if not his strongest, a real throwback start to NOW 32.

This was originally done by the The Cross, a side project of Roger Taylor.

Freddie Mercury had originally done the vocals on this back in 1987, before the rest of the band reworked everything around the song, the opening single off Made In Heaven.

Producer Jake Williams is back for a second time, following up You Belong To Me, with this, Son Of A Gun, which was initially his first single, but was re-released after You Belong To Me.

Nothing spectacular, hints of Eurodance and trance in there, but it's definitely my favourite of the 2.

Finishing NOW 31 today so you're really into the latter stages of the album in case it hasn't been obvious.
