East 17 - Hold My Body Tight (Radio 7" Edit)

The 5th and final single off East 17's second album, Steam.

Solid but doesn't capture the same groove or heart as their earlier hits, definitely the weakest for me.

Kind of standard 90's dance-pop that's been lost in the shadow of Stay Another Day, the third single off the same album and Christmas super hit.

Jam & Spoon - Right In The Night (Fall In Love With Music) (feat. Plavka)

Eurodance has definitely waned on me at this point, I'd have probably enjoyed this a bit more at other points but currently it's ending up lower down the list.

Jam & Spoon were from Frankfurt in Germany, putting out albums under a few different names, this being the most successful moniker and the most successful single also.

Plavka is an American singer and also worked with the Shamen, much more my speed there.

Dana Dawson - 3 Is Family

A moderately successful dance-pop hit from Dana Dawson, who had an unfortunately short career, spanning some Broadway work and 2 studio albums, before passing from cancer far too young at 36 in 2010.

It's fun, there's potential here and can definitely get you grooving, definitely growing on me stylistically in tune with the late 90s and what was to come in the 2000's.

A real one hit wonder here for sure, Ini Kamoze came out with this in 1994, which stormed the charts, as a dancehall/reggae meets pop cross hit.

It was his only real success in mainstream terms, coming off his 5th album.

Speaking of Britpop...

Different Class, Pulp's 5th album, is one of my favourite albums of all time, regularly fluctuates near the top of my lists, so naturally the lead single off it is going to feature quite highly here.

Pulp took awhile to reach their sound and this was them at their best, just a brilliant bit of pop.

A huge single too, but I need say no more.

Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You

Now this is more like, you could argue it's a one hit wonder, the lead single off hit 3rd solo album, but that would be doing a disservice to his time with Orange Juice in the 80's.

This is Britpop-esque, maybe not quite fully there but it's got similar stylings.

I really like it, I can't think of any of his other solo stuff (and he is still going), but this is excellent.

And of course my first memory of this comes from the hit movie, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, which for some reason I was brought to, what a film.

Wet Wet Wet kick off NOW 31, released in July 1995, at this point I'd have just turned a whooping 3 years old...

This was the 3rd single off their 4th album, Picture This, and it's not a bad effort, kind of like Elvis Costello-lite.

A top 20 single in Ireland, Iceland and the UK where it peaked at 7, not a massive belter, but an ok-ish start to NOW 31.

An unusual ending to NOW 30, with this non album single, a cover of U2's earlier hit.

It's kinda trip hoppy but not fully all the same, did well on some R&B charts.

It's not bad by any means.

Interestingly, Mica Paris has since ended up acting on the soap Eastenders, the second on this album.

Definitely influenced by the earlier Boyz II Men classic, Motownphilly.

Not as catchy, but a decent effort, a top 20 hit around Ireland and the UK, it's definitely one forgotten with time, but a good effort.

Was initially under the impression that this was some sort of dance cover, but it's basically the same song just a bit more upbeat in the midsection.

Nicki French is still going and churning out music, though this was her only real success.

Just bonkers, absolutely bonkers, that said, I kinda love it?

Basically a one hit wonder from Swedish Eurodance meets country group Rednex, from the north of Sweden in Lapland of all places.

Despite being a one hit wonder they have an extensive history on Wikipedia.

This was their debut single off their debut album, and it became a huge novelty hit and number 1 across Europe, I get way too into this type of nonsense.

This is an interesting, it was originally released by Pigbag in 81, then this version by Perfecto Allstarz had some decent success in the 90's.

Perfecto Allstarz actually being Paul Oakenfold.

I'm a fan of this as a darts anthems (I love my darts), with former World Champion Adrian Lewis walking out to this, hits the right nostalgia spots for me.
