7936 South Rhodes (1968) by Eddie Boyd With Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

Another Peter Green connected pick. Never seen a copy so this may never get into my collection but just in case it ends up on my radar, anyone have any thoughts?

A Case For The Blues (1986) by Katmandu

I love early Fleetwood Mac and with Peter Green on this album I am thinking of buying it but Peters later career stuff wasn't always that great.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this album?

The Nu Nation Project (1998) by Kirk Franklin

Saw him on a documentary about funk and thought that he was really good.

Any thoughts?

Is this the best album or would you recommend another?

Worth getting his stuff?

I love some of the cuts on this, but the album as a whole isn't as polished as I'd hope— would've trimmed it down to about 39mins—

First issue for me were the scattered tracks with vocals. Flea's performance on A Plea kinda ruins the track, and I'd sadly argue Nick Cave completely missed the mark on Wichita Lineman— in a somewhat 'this almost fits' performance, Thom Yorke has a solid vocal feature (and should have stuck as the only one)— but— had the album just been the opening, a vocal-less A Plea, Traffic Lights, Frailed (+ another track of similar nature), his covers of Maggot Brain & Thinkin Bout You (top notch), Willow Weep for Me and Free As I Want To Be? Would've been really solid—

It's a mixed bag with major potential and great highs, but I think that's all it'll ever be—
As a fully composed work, it's disjointed—

I thought that the Thom Yorke track, Traffic Lights, was really good which is what peaked my interest in the album

I might keep the album on my Wishlist but it's not going to get a bump just yet. I don't mind disjointed as long as there are some diamonds in there to keep me interested.

Yeah— Frailed and his cover of Thinkin Bout You are bops— two of my favourite tracks of the year so far—

Yeah—
Very happy this has crept into our top 1000 on BEA, but should still be higher—
A classic as much as anything—

(Everyone should list to at least five Fela albums)
(Can't think of any reason why not)

That would be a big fat unreserved yes. Fela Kuti is, without a shadow of a doubt, an all-time great. Can't really go wrong with any of his albums, but this is one of his most "essential". The story behind it has made it grow to legendary proportions, yet the music itself totally justifies its classic status regardless. I don't want to raise your expectations too high, but listening to Fela Kuti - especially if you aren't familiar with him - can be quite the experience. I'd move it towards the top of your wishlist.

Cheers Kokkinos. That's pretty much what I have heard from others so it's going to a highest ranking. Just need to find a decent copy.

Swiss Movement: Montreux (1969) by Les McCann & Eddie Harris

I've heard a track or two from it and it sounds really interesting.

Anyone have any thoughts?

My go to period for live Stones tends to be 69-73. Mick Taylor brought so much to the band, and I also love the way the music is always on the edge of falling over, but inspired at the same time. (Tight but Loose as they say of Led Zep)

El Mocambo 1977 (2022) by The Rolling Stones

I'm a big Rolling Stones fan but do I really need another live album?

I'm really trying to find out if it's worth buying. It really needs to be top draw for me to buy it considering the array of RS albums that I already own

Thoughts?
