Ace of Base - Beautiful Life (Single Edit)

A more ABBA-esque take from Sweden's Ace of Base, feels like something out of the Eurovision and Eurodance scene.

It's strong but suffers in the shadow of their much stronger opening album, this being the second single off The Bridge.

Luniz - I Got 5 On It

Really surprised at this selection, but I love it, a real curveball.

A bit of a cult hit, but an excellent one all the same, the first ever single from hip-hop duo Luniz and their only real success ultimately across 4 albums.

I think it holds up brilliantly, and had a bit of a resurgence around the time of Jordan Peele's Us.

The lead single off East 17's third album, the last with their complete original lineup I'm reliably informed...

There's definitely some change here but I'm also not fully sure what that change in sound is, definitely one of their weaker efforts, but as pop goes they're generally a good standard of boyband.

I quite like the Lighthouse Family in a silly sort of way, filling the blue-eyed soul void that Simply Red was no longer filling (at least to the same extent...).

It's the definition of easy listening in my ears, real Sunday drive radio music.

Their first single off their debut album, Ocean Drive, I imagine they'll have a few other easy hits showing up in the mid-late 90's.

Oasis - Live Forever

Didn't expect 2 entries into the top 10 back to back, especially to backend disc 1 of NOW 33, before the usual disc 2 drop off in quality, but here we are.

Oasis dominated the 90's so much that they had 2 tracks on this disc alone and they were even going back to the previous album for singles.

On its day, my favourite Oasis single, and hard to deny it a place in the top 10, a real 90's staple and one that will always hold up for me.

Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Radiohead are just one of those bands that transcend genres and offer something completely different on every listen, at least to me anyway.

Whilst I don't listen to them as much as I used to, I never fail to find myself mesmerised when I do fall back into them.

The Bends probably spent the most time as my favourite Radiohead album, being pushed hard by Kid A, all incredible anyway.

This is just a brilliant piece that holds it's own among everything else hear and needs no introduction.

Came out as a single a year after the release of The Bends and a year before we would get OK Computer (despite Lucky already featuring here).

Won't do it anymore justice.

Levellers - Just The One

Another interesting choice, Levellers mixing in a more folk styling with alt rock, another relatively unique sound to everything else we are hearing here.

I like this one, the second single off their 4th album, the band from Brighton are still going strong years later, though are often best known for their second album, Levelling The Land, often lumped under the guise of folk punk.

Another quite good one that would be higher if the list wasn't so competitive at this stage.

Lush - Ladykillers

Lush had somewhat of a unique sound, somewhere between Britpop, shoegazing, alt rock and noise rock, they seemed to perfectly fit the early to mid 90's in their own.

This was the second single off their 3rd and final album, the band breaking up later this year after the suicide of drummer Chris Acland.

A very interesting choice and a good track no doubt.

Terrorvision - Perseverance

Another really strange but welcome choice, I've not listened to a huge amount of Terrorvision, but I find myself quite liking this one.

A blend of alt rock with a punk twist in there, it's on their 3rd studio album, and kind of came from nowhere to end up here.

Cracks my top 200 though.
