Great poll! I love the addition of a post-metal band like Neurosis, and the no-wave Swans. Believe it or not, "post-rock" is about a whole lot more than long, boring, predictable instrumentals 😲 (also, nice to see zero votes for Explosions in the Sky!)

Slint, Bark Psychosis and Tortoise are also deserving of #1 honors, although my allegiance lies with Mark Hollis and the Talk Talk lads.

Might have also included Do Make Say Think, Gastr del Sol and Rodan...maybe even Isis or Hum

I voted for Slint, Spiderland is exceptional. Godspeed would be choice #2, but I know only two records by them (and particularly not the F# something). I could never understand how Laughing Stock could be assimilated to pstrock but that's probably just me. It's the best album from the artists suggested though.

Okay, I only bought F#A#∞, as Lift Yer Fists was extremely expensive. But it's a damn good album. The part in "East Hastings" where the tempo turns faster as faster is easily my favorite moment of the record - that's simply epic. I'm not sure if it should enter my chart, but it's at least a strong candidate.

Ah screw it. Neurosis it is. Although they aren't really post-rock..

Well regardless. One can't go wrong with Godspeed, Neurosis, or Talk Talk. All three are exceptional.

I'm not really surprised. When I think post-rock, I think Godspeed.

Talk Talk and Tortoise are fine, but they enter the realm of jazz-rock in most parts. And is something like "Djed" really post-rock ? I'm not sure...

Spiderland is an obvious favorite, but then again, post-rock ? Slint have rock band line up.

I gave it to Mogwai, because Young Team kicks the ass of pretty much every other post-rock album out there.

I'm surprised Slint doesn't have that many votes, though, I thought there were a lot of Spiderland fans on these forums...

I don't. Tortoise has 1 vote; Slint has 2. GY!BE should receive recognition but not lead. Sigur Ros is a joke compared to half of these bands.

O yeah the non stupid,please enlighten me on your play back system, unless you've got a DAC player in the high end region you're NEVER get the sound equivalent to a conventional stereo set

I never download, bought a fine stereo after listening to several DAC players up to € 5000 but not one of them could satisfy me as the stereo does
