Hotel California (album and song) are the Eagles best; Desperado (album and song) their second best. I could be wrong...but I'm not.

Almost forgot. Hotel California has a tiny little insignificant piece of lyrical content that I am sure a lot of the users around here will find useful to add when making arguments.

Don't know about the album, but Desperado is The Eagles' best song, hands down (whatever the Hotel California fans say)

Desperado is their best album in which they took risks. I don't doubt the quality of their musicianship on Hotel California. But there is something really sterile and choreographed about their approach - a bit like the effect of watching too much porn whilst high on copious amounts of cocaine. The Eagles played it safe on all their albums post Desperado and rarely pushed the boundaries. As a result their music is generally boring and contrived.

Im not a big fan of Eagles overall, but I really like this album. Every song is solid at worst, the the title track is amazing.

No I'm not saying that at all. But I'm just curious, do you really think the best song on every album is the one that's the most famous? Of all the albums I've listened to, maybe about a quarter of the time I think the biggest hit on it is the best song...all depends on the band/album obviously.

Seriously, there isn't much else on this album, so it makes SENSE that Naples chose it!

Although Naples is right on this particular album, it's definitely true that he just picks the most popular songs almost 100% of the time. I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but may as well just write "Most popular song: (whatever the song is)"

By the way, I haven't heard this whole album yet, but I sure have heard Hotel California (the song), and it was.........just.......good, I guess. 🤔 Not that much special.

Actually, this song is from One of these Nights, a great album, and far superior to the the somewhat dull Hotel California.

Eagles are in general somewhat dull.

Hotel California is their best album.

Hotel California is the best song on Hotel California, and indeed a great albeit overplayed song.

Something that is substantially more annoying than repeatedly commenting on what you think is the best song off an album is repeatedly making a completely useless comment about such a comment.
